The band began as an after-church endeavor when the DuPrees were young. The band was named Moss Eisley, after the Star Wars city Mos Eisley, but for legal reasons the "Moss" was dropped officially when they announced their tour opening for Coldplay. Now they're all grown up and have both headlined and opened for bands such as (but not limited to): Taking Back Sunday, Coldplay, Switchfoot, Snow Patrol, Brand New, Vedera, MUTEMATH, The Myriad, Hot Hot Heat and New Found Glory, and Say Anything, in which Sherri DuPree married lead singer Max Bemis. Featuring ethereal, soaring harmonies and dreamy imagery, Eisley has a sound all their own. They are, however, not without comparison or influence. Their sound echoes to dream pop and artists such as Cocteau Twins or Mazzy Star and to contemporary acts such as Denali.

Lost enemies, wandering where?
If I can see the light in your eyes
Then I won't die, then I won't die
If I can see the light in your eyes
Then I won't die, then I won't die
You are a dancing prude who would save the world in 33
If I can see the light in your eyes
Then I won't die, then I won't die
If I can see the light in your eyes
Then I won't die, then I won't die
Break into the outer world, child, child
Break into the outer world, child, child
Mother must go now, now she is lonely
She will be here by your side
Mother must go now, now she is lonely
She will be here don't you cry
"Did you decide to wake up? wake up"
Now we wake up
"did you decide to wake up?"
Wake, wake, wake, wake, wake up
If I can see the light in your eyes
Then I won't die, then I won't die
If I can see the light in your eyes
Then I won't die, then I won't die
"Did you decide to wake up? wake up"
Now we wake up
"Did you decide to wake up?"
Wake, wake, wake, wake, wake up
Wake, wake, wake, wake, wake up here
Mother, don't go out. mother, don't go out
The lyrics of Eisley's "Lost Enemies" are enigmatic and open to interpretation. On the surface, the song seems to describe a mystical or spiritual experience where "sacred machines" fill the air and "lost enemies" wander aimlessly. The singer seems to derive comfort from being able to see the "light in your eyes," whoever "you" may be. The second verse introduces a character who is rumored to be a "dancing prude" who wants to "save the world in 33," which could refer to the age of Jesus Christ at the time of his crucifixion.
The latter half of the song becomes more concrete and personal, as a mother figure is mentioned. She tells her child not to cry, and there are repeated exhortations to "wake up." The song may be exploring themes of spiritual awakening, transcending oppositions, and the desire for a higher understanding of the universe. The overall mood of the song is ethereal and mysterious, yet comforting.

You know, I've studied all four of the Dupree girls' voices, and I can make immediate distinctions. I really think Stacy has the most vocal talent, and Sucre cemented that for me. This song is also the best Eisley song ever. Christie is a very good singer/songwriter as well.

You should listen to Rising Fawn. I bet you'll change your mind

Love how they released a new version of the old song. Wasn't it a leaked demo? I love it all the same.

My fave from the album - such a great accomplishment... very unlike what they've done in the past.
