In an interview with a French magazine posted in June 2007 on their website, Iskander Hasnawi indicated that the costs and difficulties of recording the orchestral music associated with Elend have made it impossible to continue with the Elend project. Both composers will be continuing with personal projects, including L'Ensemble Orphique.

The Umbersun
Elend Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
'Ehyeh 'asher 'ehyeh,
Hëylêl ben Shahar.
Agnus in medio ante solium nos duxit ad aquarum vivos fontes.
Flammas Lucifer matutinus inveniat,
Nam supremus dies irae venit neque unus quidem stabit.
Haurient caecum vinum irae Dei, quod infunditur non mixtum
In eius calicem.
Letum infernaque in mare ignis deiecta sunt.
Fawn blazes of fury from the Seventh Eye of God.
Est mors secunda. This is the second death.
Est mors secunda. This is the second death.
Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtani
The opening lines of Elend's song, "The Umbersun," feature a reference to "Ehyeh 'asher 'ehyeh," a Hebrew phrase that can be interpreted as "I am who I am" or "I will be what I will be," and to "Hëylêl ben Shahar," a figure from the Bible often associated with the fallen angel Lucifer. These lines set the tone for a song that is steeped in religious imagery and explores themes related to death, judgment, and the afterlife.
Throughout the song, Elend's lyrics draw on a range of biblical references and allusions, from the invocation of the Book of Revelation ("Letum infernaque in mare ignis deiecta sunt," or "Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire") to direct quotes from the New Testament ("Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtani," or "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"). Taken together, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of a world in which the divine and the infernal are constantly in conflict, and in which the souls of the dead are subject to endless cycles of destruction and rebirth.
Musically, "The Umbersun" is characterized by its use of operatic vocals, atmospheric soundscapes, and complex orchestral arrangements. The song is part of Elend's larger body of work, which draws on a wide range of classical and avant-garde influences to create a unique and haunting sound.

Por primera vez siento miedo y escalofrío al escuchar un album, ésta atmósfera es espeluznantemente hermosa.

My favorite album!!! Very atmospheric, dark and beautiful! You have to be by yourself listening to this for best experience. I don't know any band that was as gifted and professional in this musical segment as these guys were.

Truly a terrifying and epic album. I hope they reissue it on Apple Music so I can re-download it.

@Brian Miller I think their first album was the scariest. But this is a good album as well.

@Mark Palavos Vrahotes imo their most frightening and brutal album is Les Ténèbres du Dehors; i think their first album lacked some musical maturity.
Mark Palavos Vrahotes
@Leonardo Villegas Thanks. I will have to listen to that one. Do you know if Elend is going to make more music or did they retire?

This was the second album I purchased by them in 1998. This album cemented my love for Elend. There is no other music group that comes close to them. I just hope they are able that new album they mentioned a couple of years ago.
