El Tiempo
Ely Guerra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Esque no puedes confundirte
la tierra puede continuar sin ti
un solo instante
y todo puede terminar.
Eternas horas de belleza
Eternas horas de belleza
la búsqueda de todo ser
y pueden desaparecer
Es la tierra que pide
es la tierra que ofrece
es el alma que llora
nuestro cielo entristece.
Es el tiempo que corre
es el tiempo que existe
es el mundo que tienes
hay que echar mas raices.
The song "El Tiempo" by Ely Guerra is an introspective piece that contemplates the preciousness of time and life itself. The opening lines "El tiempo, el tiempo. Esque no puedes confundirte" (The time, the time. You cannot confuse yourself) suggest the urgency and importance of using one's time wisely. The lyrics go on to suggest that while humans may spend eternity searching for beauty and meaning, it can all disappear in an instant. The repetition of "un solo instante" (one single moment) emphasizes the fleeting nature of life and how easily everything we hold dear can be taken away.
The song also alludes to the connection between humans and the earth. The lines "es la tierra que pide, es la tierra que ofrece" (It is the earth that asks, it is the earth that offers) suggest a symbiotic relationship between humans and the planet on which they live. The plea to "echar mas raices" (put down more roots) implies a need to establish a stronger connection with the earth and with each other. The final lines about time ("es el tiempo que corre, es el tiempo que existe") bring the focus back to the present and the need to make the most of the time we have.
