Growing up in Malibu, California, she began learning the violin at the age of four and left regular school five years later with the goal of becoming a world-class violinist; she practiced eight or nine hours a day and read a wide range of literature. Progressing to writing her own music, she studied under various teachers and went to Indiana University, which she left over issues regarding the relationship between classical music and the appearance of the performer. Through her own independent label Traitor Records, Autumn debuted with her classical album On a Day: Music for Violin & Continuo, followed by the release in 2003 of her album Enchant.
She appeared in singer Courtney Love's backing band on her 2004 America's Sweetheart tour and returned to Europe. She released the 2006 album Opheliac with the German label Trisol Music Group. In 2007, she released Laced/Unlaced; the re-release of On a Day... appeared as Laced with songs on the electric violin as Unlaced. She later left Trisol to join New York-based The End Records in 2009 and release Opheliac in the United States, where previously it had only been available as an import. Currently she is on tour to promote her newest album Fight Like A Girl. She played the role of Painted Doll in Darren Lynn Bousman's 2012 film The Devil's Carnival.
Let It Die

Should you choose to accept it
Well, I hope that you do
This is your story
Should you choose to remember
Well, I hope that it's true
I've finally a reason
You've given me a reason
To let it die
Let it die
Like all the words irrelevant and clean
Like all the girls before me, have you seen
Somebody walking back from Hell on their own
Well, I hope that you do
Why are we talking
As if you didn't know
Well, they know about you
I've finally a reason
To let it die, let it die
You've given me a reason
To let it die
Let it die
Like all the words irrelevant and strange
Like some ancient Prokofieff arrangement
This is your mission
Should you choose to accept it
Well, I hope that you do
This is your army
And they're all right behind you
Yes, they're all right with you
Let it die
Let it die
Let it die
In Emilie Autumn's song "Let It Die," the singer is speaking directly to the person she is addressing. She gives her audience a mission, as if it is theirs to accept or reject, in the first verse. She then follows this up by reminding them that this is their story, and she hopes they remember it, but she also wants the story they remember to be true. In the chorus, the repetition of "let it die" is a clear message: the singer has finally found a reason to move on from something, and she is urging the person she is addressing to do the same.
The second verse is where things start to get personal. The singer sings about girls before her, implying that she is not the first person to experience the same thing. She compares herself to someone "walking back from Hell on their own," and while it's unclear what this Hell may be, it seems to be a metaphor for a struggle or a difficult experience. The person she is addressing seems to know what she's talking about, though, as she asks why they are talking "as if you didn't know."
The third chorus is the most powerful of all. The singer offers the person she is addressing an army of support behind them, urging them to let go and move on from whatever past struggle they may be facing. The final repetition of "let it die" is a plea for closure, for the singer and for the person she is addressing. Overall, the song is a message of hope for anyone who may be struggling with letting go of something they've held onto for too long.

"I think Emilie should do a whole album with songs in the style of “In The Lake,” “Let It Die,” and “My Fairweather Friend.”" Did anyone else see this confession? I agree!

I find Emilie to have a certain honestly and acceptance of herself few others have. Few people would dare to explore darker sides in life, let alone embrace them and so openly share them. She breaks societies barriers of regular musical etiquette, while at the same time... She's honest. She knows there's so much we frown upon that is part of many people today, so while we hide our falls I think she decided to bring out beauty in each darkness. This is why I love her music, I guess.

I cant stop getting amazing about all things EA is able to manipulate about music, she´s able to carry on everything she desires and offering such different kind of styles. Until now my biggest love was Björk since 94, I´m sorry to tell her I´m loving a brand new woman
