The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.
Contar contigo

O en su defecto no lo parezca
Que no aumente la ceguera
De los que están siempre arriba
Que el pequeño genocida
La palme de una enchilada
El mal que cien años dura
Que pueda aguantar la cordura
Sin caer de rodillas
Que no existan las heridas
Que nada
Las volvamos a abrir
Que pueda contar contigo
Como sabes que conmigo siempre
Que no cuente la suerte, no
Sólo el destino que nos presentó
Eche de menos el pasado
O se recuerde al menos todo
Que no cambien a su modo
Un episodio de historia
Y el glaciar de la memoria
Nada,
No nos vuelva a fallar
Que pueda contar contigo
Como sabes que conmigo siempre
Que no cuente la suerte, no
Sólo el destino que nos presentó
Que pueda contar contigo
Como sabes que conmigo siempre
Que no cuente la suerte, no
Sólo el destino que nos presentó
Que las buenas voluntades
No sean tan diferentes
Que no sigas la corriente
Que te lo dicen siempre
Tanta charla, tanta charla
Tanto darle al bla, bla, bla
Tanto control, tanta precaución
Tanto bienestar
En el cuarto de estar
Que pueda contar contigo
Como sabes que conmigo siempre
Que no cuente la suerte, no
Sólo el destino que nos presentó
Que pueda contar contigo
Como sabes que conmigo siempre
Que no cuente la suerte, no
Sólo el destino que nos presentó
The lyrics of Enrique Bunbury's "Contar contigo" are filled with a range of complex and fascinating ideas. The song is about the concept of accountability and the difficulties that arise when trying to navigate a world filled with misinformation and manipulation. The lyrics express the desire for honesty and transparency, as well as for individuals to take responsibility for their actions and not simply follow the lead of those in power.
In the first verse, Bunbury sings about the dangers of falsehood and how it can lead to increased blindness among those in positions of authority. He also references the idea of genocide, and how even the smallest of actions (such as eating an enchilada) can have profound consequences. In the second verse, Bunbury expresses the desire for wounds to heal and for individuals to be able to rely on each other.
Later on in the song, Bunbury sings about the importance of maintaining one's own sense of individuality and not following the crowd. He criticizes the empty talk and endless precautions that prevent people from truly connecting with one another. The chorus repeats the central theme of the song: the desire to have someone to count on and to navigate the uncertainties of life together.
Overall, the lyrics of "Contar contigo" are both reflective and critical, calling for greater authenticity, honesty, and personal responsibility in a world where these qualities are often sorely lacking.
