Eros was born in the Rome suburb of Cinecittà, the son of a housepainter. He began his musical career as a teenager, when he moved to Milan. In 1984 he won the category of "New Voice" in the popular San Remo Festival for his song "Terra promessa". Eros released a series of albums in quick succession, composed of heartfelt autobiographical ballads as well as powerful rock tunes, that launched him internationally.
He has collaborated with other artists of international prominence as well. He has recorded duets with Cher and Tina Turner, to name a few.
He records every album in Spanish as well as in Italian. He is especially popular in Cuba, Germany, Mexico and Argentina, and has sold over 50 million records worldwide.
He has one daughter, Aurora Sophie (born on 5th December 1996), with his ex-wife, Michelle Hunziker, a Swiss model and television host.

The lyrics to Eros Ramazzotti's song "C'è Una Strada In Cielo" depict a celestial pathway that stretches on for eternity, and in pristine nights, one can see a multitude of people walking its length. These individuals are the outcasts, the dispossessed from every age and walk of life. They are the faceless, the undesirables, the ones without identity, who have lost the light from their eyes and have no more dreams to dream. They are walking on this road in search of dignity, even if it is just a little more.
The chorus repeats twice, the message clear - those walking on this road are not angels nor saints, but simple human beings, cast aside and left to fend for themselves. They are the forgotten, the forsaken, those whose voices go unheard, even though they talk and talk constantly. The song implores not to forget those left behind, those who have stumbled on their journey, those who seem invisible but still exist. There's a specific mention of a man's father (assuming the singer's father) who is working hard in the fields, sweating for his land, and thus, also sweating his soul.
