Welcome to the Universe
Flash and the Pan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The flea sits on the eagle
The lion is on the floor
And over there
There's the bear
Ready and a willing for a kicking in the door

Welcome to the universe
Take your partner for the biggest show in town
Welcome to the universe
Better hurry 'cos there isn't too much time
Before the stars fall down
Welcome to the universe

The bear look over its shoulder
The monkey's on its back
Look out
Wolves about
The whole damn thing is just going to the pack

Welcome to the universe
Take your partner for the biggest show in town
Welcome to the universe
Better hurry 'cos there isn't too much time
To see the stars fall down
And the sun going out
And the world catch fire
And the mountains shaking all about
Welcome - everyone
Welcome - watch the fun
Welcome to the universe

"Roll up, roll up, get you tickets..."

Stars fell down
Sun's gone out
World's on fire
Sing and shout

"We don't seem to know what's happening here folks, it could be all over"

Welcome to the universe
Did you like it at the biggest show in town
Welcome to the universe
Save your money for a second time around
A second time around
To see the stars fall down
And the sun going out
And the world's on fire
And the mountains shaking all about
Welcome - everyone
Welcome - come on join the fun
Welcome - you know that you are
Welcome - everybody's
Welcome to the universe

Welcome to the universe
It's so sad you're on your own
You see everybody's gone

Welcome to the universe
Welcome to the universe.

Both Harry and George seem to have a marvelous comic "presence".  It's a shame we didn't get to see enough of them here in the states to appreciate their enormous talent.
