Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]

à celui j'connais pas
qui m'fait rêver tout bas
à celui qu'est pas là
mais qui vit tout près d'moi
dans ma tête nuit et jour
lui déclare sans détour
pour toujours
chanson ouverte
à celui dont j'ai pas
l'adresse ni l'téléphone
celui qui entendra
la p'tite chanson qui sonne
dans sa tête nuit et jour
qui déclare sans discours
pour toujours
tout l'amour
The song "Chanson ouverte" by Françoise Hardy is a representation of the thoughts and feelings of a person who is in love with someone that they do not know. The lyrics describe the person's desire to express their feelings for this mysterious person who only exists in their imagination. The person dreams about this individual and thinks about them constantly, but they have not yet had the chance to meet them in person.
The song begins with the person acknowledging that they do not know who the object of their affection is but that they are someone who makes them dream and feel something deep within. They declare their love openly and without hesitation, expressing the hope that the person will one day hear the song they have written and understand what it means to them.
The chorus of the song repeats the idea that this love is open and available to the one who inspires it, even though they are not tangible or present in the singer's life. The song ends with a final declaration of love and an acknowledgement that this person is always on the singer's mind.
