Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]
La Pleine Lune

D'avoir tiré
Bel oiseau rare
Vous m'aviez
Le premier fusillée
Vingt fois du regard...
Votre arme était posée
Sur la table...
Quelle idée!
On ne devrait jamais
Tenter le diable...
On ne devrait jamais tailler des costumes
Ni montrer les dents
Aux fiancées présumées quand la pleine lune
Fait tourner les sangs...
Légitime défense
C'est une présomption d'innocence...
La mort vous va si bien
J'envisage
The song "La Pleine Lune" by Françoise Hardy describes the dangers of giving in to temptation, particularly when it comes to romantic pursuits. Hardy is apologizing to a rare and beautiful bird that she had shot down, after the bird had given her intense looks of attraction. She expresses regret for succumbing to temptation and taking action, knowing that it could have harmful consequences. She acknowledges the risk of provoking presumed fiancées and confesses that it is best not to engage in such behavior, especially when the full moon is out. She compares it to a temptation that is too great to resist, similar to trying to look behind a mirror or trying on the clothes of others.
The songwriter also plays with the idea of legitimizing self-defense when one is pushed to the limit. She suggests that her actions were motivated by a desire to defend herself, even though she is the one who caused harm. She uses the phrase "legitimate defense" as a way of rationalizing her actions and avoiding punishment for them. She further alludes to the idea of death and the possibility of becoming a "necrophage" or someone who feeds on dead flesh, which could be a metaphor for how misguided passion can lead people to ruin.
