Françoise Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record Oh Oh Chéri appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous Les Garçons Et Les Filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France, with two million sales.
Hardy sang in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. In 1963 she came fifth for Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix Du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy.
In 1981, she married her long-time companion Jacques Dutronc, with whom she had had a son, Thomas Dutronc, in 1973. In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of To The End. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair Obscur. Her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque Vous Partez En Voyage." Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. Hardy lives near Paris and Dutronc lives in Monticello, Corsica, although they remain a couple.[citation needed]
On se quitte toujours

On se quitte trop vite
Mais quand le coeur hésite
C'est que se meure l'amour
On se quitte toujours
Et l'on tourne la page
Vers de nouveaux visages
Et l'on croit découvrir
Le soleil qui se lève
Et l'on voit refleurir
Les fleurs d'un nouveau rêve
Mais on sait bien qu'un jour
Quand les amours se meurent
On s'éloigne et l'on pleure
On se quitte toujours
Mais on sait bien qu'un jour
Quand les amours se meurent
On s'éloigne et l'on pleure
On se quitte toujours.
The lyrics of Françoise Hardy's song "On se quitte toujours" (We Always Break Up) convey a sense of sadness and resignation towards romantic relationships. The song suggests that love is something that constantly fades away, no matter how much we try to hold onto it. The opening line "On se quitte toujours" (We always break up) sets the tone for the rest of the song, suggesting a pattern that is inevitable.
The following lines "On se quitte trop vite / Mais quand le coeur hésite / C'est que se meure l'amour" (We break up too quickly / But when the heart hesitates / It's because love is dying) emphasize the fleeting nature of romantic relationships. The line "C'est que se meure l'amour" (It's because love is dying) hints towards the idea that love is something that inevitably fades away, and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. The song suggests that when we decide to break up, we are only turning the page towards a new chapter in our lives that is uncertain and potentially disappointing.
The final lines of the song "Mais on sait bien qu'un jour / Quand les amours se meurent / On s'éloigne et l'on pleure / On se quitte toujours" (But we know that one day / When love dies / We move away and cry / We always break up) suggests a sense of acceptance towards the cycles of breaking up and moving on. Love is something beautiful while it lasts, but it is also something that inevitably fades away, leaving behind only memories and a sense of longing for what once was.

we all leave one another
we all leave one another
but when the heart hesitates
thats when love dies
we always leave each other
and we just turn the page
towards a new face
we look once again
thinking once more we'll find
that the sun will rise
and we watch springing up
flowers of a new dream
but we know that one day
when love has died down
we separate and weep
we all leave one another
but we know that one day
when love has died down
we grow distant and weep
we all leave one another
