Gipsy Woman
GLASS WATERS Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She wakes up early every morning
Just to do her hair now
Because she cares yeah
Her day oh wouldn′t be right
Without her make up
She's never had a make up
She′s just like you and me
But she's homeless, she's homeless
As she stands there singing for money
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
In my sleep I see her begging
Preaching please
Although her body is not mine
I ask now why God why
She′s just like you and me
But she′s homeless, she's homeless
As she stands there singing for money
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
She′s just like you and me
As she stands there singing for money
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
La da dee la dee da
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh

Overall Meaning

In Glass Waters' song "Gipsy Woman," the lyrics tell the story of a homeless woman who wakes up early every morning and puts effort into her appearance because she cares about her appearance. The woman's day wouldn't be complete without her makeup, even though she's never had makeup before. The lyrics show empathy towards the homeless woman as she stands and sings for money. The repeated refrain of "La da dee la dee da" creates a sense of a catchy melody that instates a feeling of compassion for everyone, despite their life situations. In the chorus, the lyrics affirm that this homeless woman is just like you and me, which emphasizes that the only difference is her life circumstances.

@TheHoopyscoopy

It sounds deep but it's inaccurate. Most homeless are mean snakes even when you try to help them. That's how it is here in CA. Maybe it's different elsewhere.
