Quel viso che si ruba
Per un attimo
Da un treno
Che già parte
Per l'America
E dove
Non c'è un posto
Dove andrà
Lo sguardo che si affaccia
Da una pagina
Di un libro
Che racconta
Un'altra storia
Dove c'e' qualcun altro
Al posto mio
Sono amori dispari
Che non hanno seguito
Sono amori persi che
Ti sfiorano un momento ma
Non fanno a tempo a vivere
Non sarà
Possibile fermarsi
Più di un attimo
Cercarti dentro questa
Grande America
Portarsi dietro
Più che un inquietudine
Sono amori dispari
Che non hanno seguito
Sono amori persi che
Ti sfiorano un momento ma
Non fanno a tempo a vivere
Sono amori dispari
Che non hanno seguito
Sono amori persi che
Ti sfiorano un momento ma
Non fanno a tempo a vivere
Ti sfiorano un momento ma
Non fanno a tempo a vivere
Con te
Con te
Con te

The lyrics of Gino Paoli's song "Amori Dispari" delve into the fleeting nature of love and the feeling of missing out on connections that could have been. The opening lines ponder on a mysterious face glimpsed briefly as a train departs for America, leaving no place for the singer. The imagery of a face stolen for a moment from a train and a glance from a book page that tells another story suggest missed opportunities and unfulfilled connections. The reference to America symbolizes a distant and unreachable destination, both physically and emotionally, where the singer cannot find a place. This sets the tone for the theme of unfulfilled and disparate loves that permeate the song.
The lyrics continue to explore the idea of missed chances and lost loves through vivid imagery of searching within the vast expanse of America, carrying not just restlessness but also a sense of longing. The repetition of "sono amori dispari" emphasizes the mismatched and unfulfilled nature of these loves, which lack continuity and depth. The mention of loves that are lost and only touch you for a moment without time to truly exist evokes a sense of wistfulness and nostalgia for what could have been. The repeated refrain underscores the transient and ephemeral nature of these disparate loves that cross paths but never fully materialize.
As the song progresses, there is a sense of resignation and acceptance that it may not be possible to pause for more than a moment to seek out these fleeting loves. The singer acknowledges the impossibility of fully embracing or holding onto these disparate loves that pass by fleetingly. The repeated lines about loves that do not have a future and only brush against you for a moment before fading away highlight the bittersweet nature of missed connections and unfulfilled desires. The longing for something more substantial and meaningful is palpable in the melancholic tone of the lyrics, reflecting on the transient and fragile nature of love.
In the final lines of the song, the repetition of "Con te" serves as a poignant reminder of the person with whom the singer desires to share these disparate loves and fleeting moments. The yearning to experience a deeper connection with this person is evident throughout the song, as the singer contemplates the fleeting nature of love and the missed opportunities that slip away before they can fully blossom. The repetition of the refrain "Non fanno a tempo a vivere" reinforces the idea that these disparate loves and missed chances are fleeting and ephemeral, underscoring the need to seize the moment and cherish the connections that are within reach.
