Giocate coi cuori
Non si vince mai
Avanti signori
Giocate coi fiori
Non si vince mai
Giocate con gli ori
Non si vince mai
Avanti signori
Se bello è giocare
Non si perde mai
Giorno per giorno
Passa la vita
Come una lunga e breve partita
Quel che decide per il domani
Sono le carte che hai nelle mani
Se arriva il re
Ti schiaccia il potere
Con le minacce
Con le bandiere
E non è meglio
Se arrivano i fanti
Che non mi piacciono
Insieme ai santi
E poi di notte
Viene il buffone
La realtà per una canzone
Ricca, beffarda, sconclusionata
Come un'attrice troppo truccata
Un'occasione presa e perduta
Ma ogni tanto arriva lei, la donna
E con lei arriva la fortuna
Ed è una delle poche volte che mi capita
Di vincere, di essere felice
Come in un sogno
Sogno
Sogno
Sogno
Come in un sogno
Sogno
Sogno
Sogno
Come in un sogno
Avanti signori
Giocate coi cuori
Avanti signori
Giocate coi i fiori
Avanti signori
Giocate con gli ori
Avanti signori
Giocate le picche
Avanti signori
Se bello è giocare
Non si perde mai
In the song "La partita" by Gino Paoli, the lyrics convey a message of taking chances in life, embracing risk, and ultimately realizing that victory is not always guaranteed. The repetition of the lines "Avanti signori / Giocate coi cuori / Non si vince mai" emphasizes the idea of playing with one's heart and taking risks, even though winning may not always be the outcome. This can be seen as a metaphor for life itself, suggesting that sometimes we have to take chances and follow our hearts without expecting a surefire success.
The imagery of playing with "fiori" (flowers) and "ori" (gold) adds depth to the lyrics, highlighting different aspects of the game being played in life. The mention of playing with "picche" (spades) introduces a sense of unpredictability and challenges that come with taking risks and facing the unknown. This serves as a reminder that life is full of uncertainties and obstacles, but it is essential to keep moving forward and playing the game regardless.
As the lyrics progress, the song explores the passage of time and the uncertainties that come with it. The reference to life passing like a "lunga e breve partita" (long and short game) speaks to the fleeting nature of time and the importance of making the most of the present moment. The mention of the cards in one's hands determining the future highlights the idea of personal agency and the choices we make shaping our destinies.
The song also delves into the themes of power dynamics and the unpredictability of life's twists and turns. References to the king's power, threats, flags, and the arrival of "fantas" (knights) and saints suggest a complex interplay of forces that can either uplift or hinder individuals in their journey. The arrival of the "buffone" (jester) symbolizes the whimsical and capricious nature of reality, where opportunities can be both seized and lost in the blink of an eye.
Towards the end of the song, there is a shift in tone as the singer reflects on the rare moments of happiness and victory that come unexpectedly, often through the presence of a woman ("la donna") and the accompanying stroke of luck. This moment of triumph is described as akin to a dream, a fleeting but euphoric experience that contrasts with the uncertainties and challenges portrayed earlier in the lyrics. Overall, "La partita" captures the essence of life as a game of chance and choice, where risks may not always lead to victory, but moments of joy and fulfillment can still be found amidst the unpredictable journey.
