La Giostra di Bastian
Giorgio Conte Lyrics

Ti porterò
Ezia una foto ci farà
Coppie di amici sui cavalli bianchi
Arabi e bianchi; ha gli occhi grigi
Ed i capelli neri e blu
Sembra incrociata con gli Apaches
È la padrona di Bastian
I giri sono lunghi
Sopra la giostra di Bastian
Quanti sederi han dondolato
Generazioni quante, mah!
In piedi sulla staffa, braccio allungato
Hanno afferrato con destrezza
L'anello lucido appeso a quella boccia
Sopra la giostra di Bastian, poi
Nevicò
Non resse più e si sfondò
La cartapesta
E le aste lucide di ottone
Neanche il motore si salvò
Con gli occhi grigi
Ed i capelli bianchi e blu
Raccolse tutto e se ne andò
Senza neanche una sovvenzione
Sul suo carrozzone
Sopra la giostra di Bastian
Quanti sederi
E quante gonne al vento
Se vuoi vederne ancora uno amico mio
Di quei cavalli di Bastian
È nell'ingresso a tener su paltò e sprabiti
Impermeabili
Me l'ha venduto la padrona di Bastian
Io l'ho comprato e messo lì
A ricordarmi notte e dì
I giri erano belli, i giri erano lunghi
I giri erano belli, i giri erano lunghi
I giri erano belli, i giri erano lunghi
In Giorgio Conte's song La Giostra di Bastian, the singer reminisces about a carousel ride at Bastian's. He recalls how he was taken on top of the carousel by a woman named Ezia who took a photo of their ride. The carousel had white horses and rabbits and Arabs, but the singer notes that it was Ezia who caught his attention with her gray eyes and black and blue hair, and who seemed to be a mix of Apache. He describes the beauty of the ride, indicating that it was slow and graceful, but also long-lasting because it has seen many generations ride it.
The song continues with descriptions of others who have ridden the carousel: men and women who have straddled horses, reaching out for the brass ring, something of a traditional amusement park game. The carousel has been ridden by many people, old and young, then it breaks down in the snow, revealing its shoddiness, revealing that it is nothing more than papier mache and brass. Ezia, the owner of the carousel, with her gray eyes and black and blue hair, takes everything and leaves, without even a subsidy, on her wagon.
