Following a 21-year performing ban imposed by the conservative government of Iran (where she continued to live following the 1979 Islamic revolution), Googoosh finally left the country in 2000 to undertake a world tour, re-establishing her status as the most successful Iranian artist of all time.
The phenomenal success of these concerts was testament not only to her lasting quality as an artist, but a tribute to generations of Iranians who, despite over two decades of silence, demonstrated their continuing love and loyalty to an enduring star of a bygone era. In turn she rewarded their devotion with proof that she continues to remain relevant to today's audiences, showing that she is a star not only of the past, but of the present and the future.

The lyrics to Googoosh's song Delam Khast convey a sense of longing and a desire to break free from societal limitations. The first verse speaks of wanting to break free from the norms of society, to be insane or crazy, as the heart desires. The second verse speaks of a lack of trust in others, closing one's eyes and turning away from the problems at hand. The third verse speaks of the singer reaching the height of their passion, only to look up to the sky with longing for love. The fourth verse speaks of the singer's thirst for love and how they crave it, just as one thirsts for water. The chorus repeats twice, the singer repeating their want for madness and separation from themselves, and how they've become estranged.
The fifth verse speaks of the singer's detachment from others, feeling like no one understands them. They feel like they're the only ones who truly believe in themselves and nobody cares for them. They express frustration at the fact that no one has tried to understand why they're crying or what pain they're feeling. The sixth verse speaks of the singer taking responsibility for their actions and their past deeds. They feel like they've done something wrong and can't forgive themselves. No one else seems to be willing to forgive them either. The seventh verse speaks of the singer's internal struggle; they've been having bitter thoughts all night, and it's taking a toll on them. In the eighth verse, the singer is in a place of solitude and darkness, and they don't find any solace or comfort. They feel like they're all alone, and nobody's coming to help them.

من خود گوگوش و ترانه هایش دوست ندارم ولی این خیلی خوشم اومد .کار خوبی کرد همچین ترانه یی خواند،به روزهای امروز زن زندگی ازادی خوب میخورد
