In 2005, the band expanded their live band by adding Dan Elkan on vocals, rhythm guitar, and synth and Jonathan Hischke on bass guitar. In 2006, Hella's line-up was expanded to include Hill's cousin, Josh Hill (guitar), Spencer's Advantage bandmate Carson McWhirter (bass) and Aaron Ross (Vocals).
Since 2009, Hella's lineup is back to the original two-piece of Zach Hill and Spencer Seim, and in August of 2011 they released their latest album, Tripper, on Sargent House.
Soundtrack To Insecurity
Hella Lyrics

The death of your ideas should not be feared
Do you hold the hand of blasphemy?
Through sickness and through health
Dancing to the soundtrack of insecurity is commonwealth
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know you like you know you don't
His lies are written in the stars
Intellect won't get you anywhere
Assassinate your friendship with the world
Words are not artificial they are blind
Camouflaged in white light
You're gonna know infinity tonight
ALLRIGHT!- let's bury ourselves in the distance
WE'RE POLARIZED- let's conquer our demise
ALLRIGHT!- let's bury ourselves in forgiveness
WE'RE POLARIZED- God's gift to God has no eyes
IT'S HIGHER THAN HIGH
IT'S HIGH AS YOU TRY
Camouflaged in white light
You're gonna know infinity tonight
Your lies are written in the stars
Intellect won't get you anywhere
Assassinate your friendship with the world
Words are not artificial they are blind
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know me like you think you do
You don't know you like you know you don't
Do you hold the hand of blasphemy?
Through sickness and through health
Dancing to the soundtrack of insecurity is commonwealth
Welcome to the unavailable
The death of your ideas should not be feared
The lyrics to Hella's song "Soundtrack to Insecurity" are cryptic yet thought-provoking. The opening lines "Welcome to the Unavailable/The death of your ideas should not be feared" could be interpreted as an invitation to those who feel lost or disconnected. The idea that death of one's ideas should not be feared suggests that it is natural for our ideas to evolve and change as we grow and learn. This also seems to be echoed later in the song when the lyrics state "Assassinate your friendship with the world/Words are not artificial they are blind." These lines suggest that the only way to truly grow and evolve is to question everything and challenge societal norms.
The refrain "You don't know me like you think you do" is repeated throughout the song and seems to be the main theme. It could mean that we are all more complex than what meets the eye and that we should not make assumptions about others based on what we think we know. The line "Do you hold the hand of blasphemy?" suggests that the song is exploring themes of personal beliefs and values. The term 'blasphemy' is often associated with religious beliefs but it could also be interpreted in a broader sense of challenging societal norms and expectations.
Overall, "Soundtrack to Insecurity" seems to be a call to question everything and not to fear change or criticism. It encourages listening to one's inner voice and challenging societal norms and expectations.
