In 2005, the band expanded their live band by adding Dan Elkan on vocals, rhythm guitar, and synth and Jonathan Hischke on bass guitar. In 2006, Hella's line-up was expanded to include Hill's cousin, Josh Hill (guitar), Spencer's Advantage bandmate Carson McWhirter (bass) and Aaron Ross (Vocals).
Since 2009, Hella's lineup is back to the original two-piece of Zach Hill and Spencer Seim, and in August of 2011 they released their latest album, Tripper, on Sargent House.

Hella Lyrics

Have burned each other out to soon
So sell me some doom
Because I'm the only eyes wide open in the room
Undress the truth
So I can have the feeling that it has been used
Alone you sit
You seem afraid
Loose lips sink ships!
You have no grip
Don't you know?
You're gonna die die die all alone
The look on your face
Has been making me lose sleep for days
Asleep in the haze
In the middle of where everything is gray
The games that we play
Are gonna be the death of us someway... somehow
And I've been told about
How the dawning of the hour is finally here.
(And) I could sing out loud
If only the mighty and proud would all just disappear
Did someone open an undertow?
Or is this drowning feeling typical?
It isn't really who you know
It's how blatantly artistic you're completely hypocritical
Don't you know you're gonna die die all alone?
Let this fire cover your vision for disintegration is a gift (this is a supernatural pandemic)
The lyrics to Hella's World Series describe a sense of impending doom, with the singer suggesting that the sun and the moon have burned out too soon and that they are the only one with their eyes wide open in the room. They go on to ask for the truth to be undressed so they can feel that it has been used, perhaps suggesting a desire for authenticity in a world that they see as filled with deception. The second verse addresses someone who is sitting alone, bleeding quietly and seeming afraid. The singer warns them that loose lips sink ships and that they have no grip, before reminding them that they will ultimately die alone. The chorus continues with this theme, referencing the games that people play and the fact that they will be the death of us all in some way or another. The bridge suggests that the hour of reckoning is coming, and that the mighty and proud should disappear. The singer concludes by suggesting that disintegration is a gift and urging the listener to let the fire cover their vision.
Overall, the lyrics of World Series seem to be expressing a sense of disillusionment and existential dread. The singer seems to feel that the world is full of lies and that people are ultimately playing games that will lead to their downfall. At the same time, there is a sense of defiance, with the singer urging the listener to embrace disintegration as a gift and let the fire cover their vision. This suggests a desire to break free from the constraints of the world around them and embrace something more meaningful or authentic.
