Loose Lip Sync Ship
Hogs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh baby
I loved you
Please come back to me
I miss you
You're the best
Baby without you by my side
My whole complexion is a mess
Friends
I would like all of you to turn to Chapter 37
And we all sing Hymns

Row, row your boat
Gently down the stream

Overall Meaning

The first few lines of Hog's song Loose Lip Sync Ship speaks about the singer's longing for his lost love. The opening lines, "Oh baby, I loved you, please come back to me, I miss you, you're the best," convey a heartfelt sentiment of wanting the person he loves to return to him. The next line, "Baby without you by my side, my whole complexion is a mess," illustrates the feeling that being without the person he loves has left him feeling incomplete and unwell. It conveys a sense of vulnerability and emotional void.

The song takes an interesting turn as the lyrics suddenly mention "Friends" and asks them to turn to Chapter 37 and sing hymns. This use of religious symbolism seems to provide an interesting twist to the narrative, and suggests that possibly the singer may be seeking solace in religion as a means to overcome his heartbreak. The final lines of the song, "Row, row your boat gently down the stream", suggest a theme of moving on and letting go. The singer is urging himself and others to move forward, to let go of the past, and to continue to navigate a course through life.

I thought this was by The Chocolate Watchband

@bjornh1527

I just heard Gossamer Wings for the first time, and it´s definitely the same music track. It´s so confusing, is this Chocolate Watchband playing or The Hogs? Or did both dub over an existing recording by a third, unknown group? Love this song anyway.

EDIT: Okay, so this IS Chocolate Watchband, but the single was released as The Hogs. CWB changed members a whole lot, and this could have been recorded either when the composers were playing in the band, or right before they (re-) joined.

@ernestaguirre

Produced by Ed Cobb. Zappa's involvement has never been officially proved or disproved for that matter... but he almost certainly had nothing to do with these recordings. Blues Theme b/w Loose Lip Sync Ship

@haulofrecords

........ Definitely maybe.

@ernestaguirre

Possibly... but who the hell really knows. Frank ain't talking and neither is Ed Cobb.

@robertorick6383

it sounds like something Zappa would produce, but it obviously isn't him. Likewise, "The Phantom" isn't rockabilly singer Marty Lott ("Love Me") either. Lott was involved in a serious automobile accident at the time, so he couldn't be involved. I feel that Dirty City Chronicles is right, it's an Ed Cobb production. Only it's not on Tower Records (I'm certain Tower Records rejected it.) The composers are credited to David Aguilar & Mark Loomis. I feel they are members of The Hogs imitating The Mothers Of Invention for shits & giggles.

@Mahoromatic

if The Phantom wasn't Marty Lott... who the hell was he?
