From a first single in 1979, the group successfully combined a pop rock and power pop (and sometimes, a blues rock) influenced backing with harmony side-vocals and Lewis' strident voice, and the band had numerous hit songs during the 1980s and early 1990s. These include "The Power of Love" and "Back in Time" (both of which were featured in the film "Back to the Future"), "I Want a New Drug", "Doin' It All (For My Baby)", "Do You Believe in Love?" "Hip to Be Square", "Stuck With You", and "Jacob's Ladder". Huey Lewis shared three Grammy awards, an American Music Award, and a People's Choice Award along with several artists for his role singing the 1985 charity song "We Are the World" as well.

Huey Lewis & The News Lyrics

If she should come a calling
I couldn't dream of turning her away
And if it got hot and hectic
I know she'd be electric
I'd let her take her chances with me
You see, the gets what she wants
She's hot and cold
She's got it all, hot loving every night, oh
Oh
Can't you see her standing there
See how she looks, see how she cares
I let her steal the night away from me
Nine o'clock this morning
She left without a warning
I let her take advantage of me
You see, she got what she wanted
'Cause she's heart and soul
She's hot and cold
She's got it all, hot loving every night, oh
Oh
Yes it's heart and soul
She's hot and cold
She's got it all
She's heart and soul, yeah
She's got hot loving every night, oh
Oh
She's got it all
She's heart and soul
She's heart and soul
She's heart and soul
She's heart and soul
She's heart and soul
She's heart and soul
The lyrics of the Huey Lewis and The News song Heart and Soul revolve around a woman who is described as having an irresistible combination of traits. The singer cannot resist her, even if she were to come calling in the middle of the night. The woman is described as both hot and cold, a contradiction that only adds to her allure. She commands attention and knows exactly what she wants, and she gets it. The singer cannot help but give in to her, even if it means she takes advantage of him. The song is ultimately a celebration of this woman's power and irresistible appeal.
The lyrics of this song are simple but effective, describing a woman who is both desirable and unpredictable. Huey Lewis' raspy vocals perfectly capture the singer's infatuation with this woman. The band's sound is classic 80s, with driving drums and catchy guitar riffs that will get stuck in your head. Heart and Soul was a hit when it was released in 1983, and it remains a classic rock staple today.

Loved this song when I was 8 in 1991-92. It was the third single and VH1 played it a few times. Very underrated bluesy pop ballad

Definitely underrated. I always expected this one to end up in a movie.
