I would say to find the answer:
1:05:06

He would have something along those lines to say.

1:25:00 - 1:26:00
is in my opinion the best analysis of what his views were. Really makes you think.

1:26:35 A continuation of the first quote . The nights when the moon comes too close, 220 million used car salesmen come out. That is slapping his work together, I doubt he would care in this context.

He'd be fired up if it was his time. The sad thing for me. He is a man we will remember for a long time, with words that no one was ready to hear. Not even the people who took it at face value. That was why politics took a lot out of him. It did end his career in a sense. As an agent of change. I think his work after is great but he was swallowed up by fame. It is bittersweet.

Really anarchy ...
I don't like that man ...
He liked violence ...
Thompson was really man from hell ...
He was mafiozo with talent wrote fiction ...
But now ...
Who is he ...
Nothing !!!
As the all directors he gone to hell ...

I lived next door to Hunter for 2 yrs in the early 80's. My house was on a hill which overlooked his. His peacocks would walk up the path to our place then come in the house through kitchen sliding doors. He tried to sell me a couple birds, I refused telling him I was already part owner of his, he laughed. We often heard gun shots in the night which signaled he was home and playing in the yard, we became friends. I think it was around 1990 when I sold him a red 71 Pontiac Granville convertible, 455 cu in, which he just loved to tool around in until he left it out one night during a heavy Spring snow storm when the roof collapsed from the wet snow. He later picked up a similar red Chevelle. I always wondered what became of the Pontiac. For a few years after my moving from Woody Creek he'd call me on Christmas Eve just to tell me "Merry Christmas". I think of him every Christmas Eve since and wonder what he'd have to say about the mess we are all in.

Big mess we are all in. I mean, literally anyone can say anything, but only some of us are telling the truth. I remember living next door to William S. Burroughs... I'll never forget the day he told me not to post absolute shite on YouTube.

@nedludd7622

@@samratcliffe5253 But you just did post absolute shite. What reason do you have for saying what you did, especially since Thompson is rather overlooked these days? What advantage would he have for making stuff up? This site has less than a million subscribers. It is not an airhead "Influencer" site.

I met Hunter in about 1971 in Aspen where I lived for about three years. I would have drinks with him and his wife late night at the Hotel Jerome. We were friendly acquaintances, I didn't know him well enough to call him a friend. I do know that old Aspen though, including Woody Creek. Maybe I will post something more about it in the main thread, if that would interest you.

He was a cocktail of genius, perception, craziness and self-indulgence. A man made for the times who captured the times.

@mamiemonrovia7654

of course, there's no pun intended w/ ur use of the word cocktail. 😀

@DukeOfData

It must have come subconsciously but still apt.
