2. Not only this Smooth Jazz band shares same band name, they have a song called "Millenium"(2006) that is exactly same title (intentionally misspelled) as the other Incognito's (Jazz Funk) song on their album "100° and Rising"(1995), plus the logo resembles in font. The title "Every Day"(2006) on the album Street Smarts exactly alike in titles (when read) with the other Incognito's famous tune "Everyday"(1995). They are often tagged totec radio. Also mis-tagged by fans as bluey where there's no link to Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick himself. r00ts & t4lk1n l0ud tags also used, that could mislead fans to the Bluey's famous tunes like "Roots" & "Talkin' Loud".

Beneath the calm exterior
There can be a soul on fire
Truth is not always what the eyes can see
The smile upon our faces
Can disguise our pain and hide the traces
Melts into the ground and disappears
The one thing you thought was forever
Slowly washed away by all the tears
If I gotta be true to no other
I gotta be true to myself
Raise up your head now so the world can see
You have the inner vision
Though the fight is far from over
You've got to battle with it endlessly
Before life becomes a rumor
A sudden risin' tide that pulls you under
Sometimes the rock that we depend on
Melts into the ground and disappears
The one thing you thought was forever
Slowly washed away by all the tears
If I gotta be true to no other
I gotta be true to myself
(True to myself)
(True to myself)
If I'm gonna make it come tomorrow
(True to myself)
Hallowed be the voice of constant sorrow
(True to myself)
Gotta climb the ladder if I'm able
(True to myself)
I can't keep this shining light under the table, my love
(True to myself)
I wanna be, I gotta be true to myself, hey, hey'
(True to myself)
The song 'True To Myself' by Incognito paints a picture of the complexity of human emotions and the need for authenticity. The first few lines suggest that things are not always what they seem and that beneath the surface, we could be dealing with intense emotions. The word "soul on fire" refers to the burning passion or anger that could be deeply rooted inside of a person. The next couple of lines emphasize that the truth is not always visible and could be betrayed by appearances, even if the person's smile or demeanor is that of calmness, they could still be dealing with hidden pain.
The lyrics also emphasize the instability and unpredictability of life. The rock that we depend on could melt, and things we thought were forever could dissipate with time. The chorus, 'If I gotta be true to no other, I gotta be true to myself,' suggests that the only constant in life is our ability to remain true to ourselves. The song encourages listeners to raise their heads and show the world their inner vision despite the challenges they face.
The last few lines of the song are a call to action. "If I'm gonna make it come tomorrow... Gotta climb the ladder if I'm able, I can't keep the shining light under the table, my love." This emphasizes the need for perseverance and fighting for what one wants in life. One needs to be true to their self to make it in the world and to keep their hopes and dreams shining.
