Higelin's entertainment career began at age 14, when he left school to work as a stunt double. While playing a number of small roles in various motion pictures, Higelin was taught to play the guitar by Henri Crolla, an Italian film composer. By the early sixties, Higelin was attending the René Simon drama school, where he won the François Perier award.
For two years starting in 1961, Higelin served in the French military. Upon returning to France, he resumed his cinematic career, but increasingly began to focus on music over film. By the end of the decade, he was also very active in the artistic underground in Paris, and he began to channel his music towards radical militancy. He began attracting popular attention through his live concerts, typically held in smaller venues, and released his first solo album, in 1971. By the middle of the 1970s, Higelin had become one of France's most successful musicians, and he continued to be influential.

J'ai l'honneur de vous saluer
Déesses et magiciennes
Pour moi Mister Jack
Aux lanternes
Manies de l'enfer et du ciel
C'est bonheur inestimable
De vous avoir à ma table
Ce soir c'est merveille d'abondance
Qu'on allume le feu sâcré
A la gloire du dieu Soleil
Qu'on lève sa coupe d'hydromel
A l'immortelle beauté
De la déesse Dana
Que devant sa grâce souveraine
Druides et guerriers se prosternent
A la lueur des flambeaux d'Halloween
Dans la foret de Brocéliande
Viendras-tu me voir
Danser de folles sarabandes
Oh toi ma source de jouvence
Dana ! je veux dans tes bras
Goûter aux charmes de l'extase
Divine de l'au-delà
D'Halloween
Ce soir
J'aimerais que tu me laisses
Entrevoir
D'Halloween

The song "Halloween" by Jacques Higelin begins with the author introducing himself to the spirits and goddesses of the sacred forest. He expresses his pleasure and wonder at having them gathered around his table for a grand feast of Halloween. The author then praises the god of Sun and raises his cup of mead to the immortal beauty of the goddess Dana. He exclaims that it is an honor to stand before her and prostrate himself in front of her undeniable grace. He then invites Dana to join him in dancing wildly in the forest of Brocéliande, seeking to experience the charms of ecstasy in her embrace. Through his passionate and poetic lyrics, the author expresses his deep admiration and love for the goddess, Dana.
The song evokes a powerful sense of enchantment and mystical energy. Through its vivid imagery and evocative language, it conjures up a world of magical forces, divine beauty, and transcendent experiences. It captures the essence of Halloween as a time of mystery and wonder, a time when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest and the spirits roam free.
