Calling
Jim Brickman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Can we just for a night let the stars decide where we belong
Maybe heaven right now is a devil or angel away
That won′t change
Together we vow that our colors will sparkle the faith
And I will find you
I will find you
Or I, I, I will lose my mind
Lose my mind
Lose my mind
Lose my mind, yeah
I will lose my mind, yeah
Lose my mind, yeah
Maybe heaven right now is a devil or angel away
That won't change
Together we vow that our colors will sparkle the faith
And I will find you
I will find you
I will reach you
Or I, I, I will lose my mind
I will lose my mind, yeah
Lose my mind, yeah
These lyrics from Jim Brickman's song "Calling" explore the idea of breaking free from the constraints of karma and societal expectations. The singer questions whether it's possible to suspend the consequences of our actions and simply let fate guide us for one night. They ponder if heaven and hell could be closer than we think, and regardless of that, they make a promise to embrace their true selves and let their vibrant personalities shine.
The chorus repeats the line "I will find you," emphasizing the singer's determination to connect with someone or something. This could refer to a specific person they long to be with, or it could symbolize finding meaning, purpose, or a sense of belonging. It's a declaration of their perseverance and desperate longing, suggesting that without finding what or who they seek, they might "lose their mind."
The repetition of the line "lose my mind" could express the intensity and all-consuming nature of their desires. It's as if their mental state and stability hang in the balance, dependent on whether they can fulfill this deep yearning.
Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of emotional vulnerability, the search for connection, and a willingness to let go of societal norms in order to find personal fulfillment.
