Almost Saturday Night
John Fogerty Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Outside my window, I can hear the radio,
And I know that motor wagon is ready to fly,
'Cause it's almost Saturday night.

Bye bye, tomorrow, Jody's gone to the rodeo,
And you know some good old boys are ready to ride,
'Cause it's almost Saturday night.
[Chorus]
Gonna push the clouds away,
Let the music have it's way,
Let it steal my heart away,
And you know I'm-a-goin'!

Outside the ringing, the night train
Is bringin' me home,
When you hear that locomotion get ready to ride,
'Cause it's almost Saturday night.

[Chorus]

Outside the ringing, the night train
Is bringin' me home,
When you hear that locomotion get ready to ride,

'Cause it's almost Saturday night.
Oh yeah!

How this wasn't a smash back in '75 is beyond me. So good!

Dave Edmunds's version was a hit. I didn't know Fogerty wrote this song until now.

John Fogerty wrote so many great songs with CCR and as a solo artist I saw him in Concert in 2007 my favourite solo album was Centrefield one of the great original songwriters who made a huge comeback in 1985.

I enjoy Centerfield, too! John autographed by cassette jacket of it. My favorite of his is still his self-titled. I need to dig out my copy of Eye of the Zombie, as I remember it being good and listening to it a lot back in the day.

Bruce Springsteen compares John to Hank Williams. That's very high praise. They are both prolific song writers who share a 100% Americana style and high quality to their songs.

WichitaGuy56

No one cares what Bruce thinks.

ReBorn

John's New Wave sound even before New Wave was a thing. Love this tune.

acrovader
