Son of Anna Illichi of Yugoslav origin and Catholic, and Paul Mautner, an austrian jew, Jorge Mautner was born shortly after his parents landed in Brazil: "I was born here a month after my parents arrived in Brazil, fleeing the Holocaust" .
In 1948, his parents divorced. Anna married the violinist Henri Muller and moved to São Paulo. Henri George teaches George the violin.
Mautner begins to write his first book, "Deus da chuva e da morte" at age 15. The book was published in 1962 and consists, with "Kaos" (1964) and "Narciso em tarde cinza" (1966), of the trilogy now known as the Kaos mythology.

With UN support, the show takes place at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, transformed into "free territory", and results in double-album recorded live. The album was banned for six years by the military regime and only released in 1979.

(Jorge Mautner)
Sempre pregou a piedade, o amor, a compaixão e o perdão.
Ele diz: Talita cumi.
Em aramaico quer dizer: menina, levanta.

In the song "Yeshua Ben Joseph" by Jorge Mautner, the lyrics delve into the narrative surrounding Jesus of Nazareth, also known as Yeshua Ben Joseph in Aramaic, the son of Joseph. The lyrics reference a voice from the Gospel of St. John proclaiming the birth of a child among them, highlighting Jesus' teachings of piety, love, compassion, and forgiveness throughout his life. However, the lyrics take a darker turn when Jesus speaks of severe consequences for those who harm the innocent, emphasizing the weight of responsibility and consequences for one's actions.
The lyrics convey a sense of existential solitude and a search for redemption through the act of forgiveness. The singer expresses a deep connection to Jesus and the comfort found in his teachings, feeling his presence in moments of vulnerability and sorrow. There is an acknowledgment of personal struggles and a longing for a sense of belonging and purpose, finding solace in the idea of being led by Jesus towards a timeless realm that predates the expulsion from paradise.
The chorus reflects a sense of identity and belonging to a chosen group, aligning with the illuminated and the humiliated, the religious and the oppressed. It speaks to a shared experience of struggle and resilience among those who find solace and strength in their faith. The lyrics paint a picture of a perpetual search for happiness and fulfillment, with the presence of Jesus at joyous occasions like the wedding at Cana, symbolizing eternal grace and divine connection.
The lyrics also reference biblical miracles attributed to Jesus, such as his command for a young girl to rise from the dead, symbolizing resurrection and renewal. The Aramaic phrase "Talita cumi" meaning "little girl, arise" captures the essence of faith and divine intervention. Overall, the song intertwines themes of faith, redemption, and the enduring legacy of Jesus Christ, inviting listeners to reflect on their own spiritual journey and the transformative power of forgiveness and grace.
