Kany García is born to a Spaniard father and Puerto Rican mother. García's father, Antonio, who gave up the priesthood when he met Shela, Encarnita García de Jesús, or Kany, grew up in a house where music was not only played, but also lived. The youngest of three children (Marishela and José Antonio, who is a lead cello player at the Sinfónica de Puerto Rico), Kany started learning classical music when she was just a child, studying cello, theory, solfeggio and chorus. At 13, she went to the Escuela Libre de Música, where the guitar would win her heart. This was followed by studies at Puerto Rico's Conservatorio de Música.
García known for being on the first season of Objetivo Fama, a singing talent contest held in Puerto Rico. During the show, Kany suffered a car accident, which forced her to abandon the competition. She was in intensive care for some time and managed to recover, although sensation in her left toe is limited.
After the accident, García turned into a much sought composer/songwriter. She wrote a song for Janina Irizarry's first album Todo De Mí. In 2006, García signed a recording contract with Sony BMG, releasing her debut album "Cualquier Día" (2007), which was a commercial success spawning four top 40 singles on the Billboard Latin Tracks. A year later, she released her second studio album, "Boleto De Entrada" (2009), which peaked within the top five of the Billboard Latin albums chart, and produced her first US Top 20 hit single, "Feliz" on Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. With great praise for her work, she was nominated for four Latin Grammy awards in 2008, and won Best Female Pop Vocal Album for "Cualquier Día" and Best New Artist.

Hace un año mi esposo estuvo muy grave en el hospital, y mientras estaba internado, escuché esta canción… le pedí a la distancia que se quedara un ratito más… lloré tantísimo que me sirvió de desahogo de tanto estrés. Cuando estuvo de alta, de camino a casa la puse en el carro y nos sirvió de acercamiento y catarsis de lo complejo que estuvo todo. Nos sirve de reconciliación cuando todo parece mal. Hermosa canción 💕en el momento preciso.
