Voegele began gaining interest from record labels and management companies after recording a series of demos. The first demo "The Other Side" (released in 2003) was produced by multi-platinum, award winning producer Michael Seifert. Her second demo "Louder Than Words" (released in 2004) was produced by Marshall Altman. Kate signed a record deal with Myspace Records in 2006 and released her debut album "Don't Look Away" (produced by Marshall Altman) in May of 2007.
Kate Voegele recently began a recurring guest spot in six episodes of The CW television series "One Tree Hill" on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Voegele plays Mia, a young singer and keyboardist for a rock band fronted by Jason (Kevin Federline). After Peyton (Hilarie Burton) signs the band to her upstart record label and becomes increasingly frustrated with Jason's attitude, she eventually drops him and the rest of the band, but retains Mia as a developing new artist at the insistence of Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), who is somewhat well-versed in the music industry as well. Mia performs songs on the series from Voegele's real-life debut album "Don't Look Away" including "Kindly Unspoken" in her very first episode.
Kate Voegele performed several songs from her debut album "Don't Look Away" on the The Early Show, Saturday, February 2, 2008 on CBS television network nationally. Kate's band member Sam provided backup vocals and beat box support while Mark played the bass guitar.
In the spring, Kate embarked on a world-wind tour, opening up for the rock band Hanson on their 2008 Walk Tour and gaining a reputation in the music business that will surely be worth remembering.

Of my tired eyes
I'm not surprised
That it's now a quarter past too late
Nothing new, it's no case out of the ordinary
I'm so very wrapped around your finger this time
Oh, won't you give me awhile to unwind?
And I'm just waiting, making up your excuse
You say that love's tough, are you sure?
Ain't it just a piece of cake to make me look like a fool?
I look like a fool
You're like a splinter
Just killing me slowly from inside
The piercing winter is so much
More inviting than the stare in your eyes
One heavy cinderblock, like a rock
You're just staying, weighing, breaking me down
I'm crying out, you don't hear a sound
You're on top of the world
And I'm just waiting, making up your excuse
You say that love's tough, are you sure?
Ain't it just a piece of cake to make me look like a fool?
I look like a fool
Hope I've lost enough to win you back your prize
To put you up sky high, get your pride back to its familiar place
And I hope it's cost enough of my dear, precious time
To lift your spirits, spark your smile
You're on top of the world
And I'm just waiting, making up your excuse
You say that love's tough, are you sure?
Ain't it just a piece of cake to make me look like a fool?
I look like a fool
You break me, make me look like a fool
I am not your fool, no, no
You may be on top of the world
But I'm done playing by your rules
You're on top of the world
In Kate Voegele's song "On Top of the World," the singer is expressing their feelings of being trapped in a toxic relationship with someone who holds all the power. They feel that they have been deceived and manipulated into being just another pawn in this person's game, and they are struggling to break free from their grasp. The line "Nothing new, it's no case out of the ordinary" suggests that this isn't the first time they have experienced this kind of treatment, and they feel suffocated and weighed down by the weight of the other person's control. They yearn for some space and freedom to breathe and be themselves, away from the constant pressure to conform to the other person's expectations.
The chorus of the song is both an indictment of the other person's behavior and a plea for understanding. The singer is trying to convey to the other person that their behavior is hurtful and cruel, and that they are tired of being made to look like a fool. They cannot understand why the other person would continue to treat them this way, and wonder if Love really is as tough as they make it out to be. They feel that they have lost too much of themselves in this relationship, and they want to walk away with their dignity intact.
Overall, Kate Voegele's "On Top of the World" is a poignant and emotional depiction of a toxic relationship, and the devastating effects it can have on those involved.
