Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

Dahm dahm, dahm do dahm, ooby do
Dahm dahm, dahm do dahm, ooby do
Dahm dahm, dahm ooh dahm
Mm dooby do

(You're my ob-session)
(For ever and a day)
I want, want you to know
I love, I love you so
Please hold, hold me so tight
All through, all through the night
(Speak softly, darling)
(Hear what I say)
(I love you always)
(Always, always)
I've waited, waited so long
For your kisses and your love
Please come, come to me
From up, from up above
(Come softly, darling)
(Come softly, darling)
I need, need you so much
Wanna feel your warm touch
Mm dooby do, dahm dahm, dahm do dahm ooby do

The song "Dum Dum" by Ken Boothe is a love song expressing how deeply the singer is in love with his partner. In the first verse, the singer uses nonsensical sounds like "mm dooby do" and "dahm dahm" to create a playful and carefree atmosphere, drawing the listener in with the catchy beat. This leads into the chorus where the singer urges his partner to come to him softly, showing how important their relationship is to him. The repetition of "come softly, darling" demonstrates the singer's need for tenderness and affection in their relationship.
The second verse reveals the depth of the singer's feelings. He tells his partner that he loves them so much and begs them to hold him tight, showing his vulnerability and the importance of physical touch. The line "all through the night" during this verse emphasizes how much the singer desires to be with his partner continuously. The last part of the song repeats the chorus and creates a sense of longing for his partner's return. The lyrics "wanna feel your warm touch" exhibit this sense of longing, and the song ends on a hopeful note with the singer waiting for his lover's return.
Overall, "Dum Dum" is a sweet and romantic song that emphasizes the value of love, affection, and tenderness in relationships. The song's catchy tune and playful sounds add a lightheartedness to the lyrics, making it a song that is both easy to dance to and deeply emotive.
