Screwed
Kid Cudi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hey oh oh
Hey oh oh
Oh oh
I've been trying to steer
Been trying to steer it right
It's fairly clear how I might be screwed
Said the end is nearing
It's fairly clear we might be crewed
When life loses appeal
When the ghosts appear
Just a kid in the moonlight
Just a kid in the moonlight
Headlights on a deer
Headlights on the fear
Just a kid in the moonlight
Rahm, rahm
Rahm, rahm
Rahm, rahm
Mmm
Rahm, rahm
Mmm
Hey oh oh
Hey oh oh
Hey oh oh
In Kid Cudi's song "Screwed," the lyrics poignantly express feelings of uncertainty and despair in the face of adversity. The repeated refrain of "Hey oh oh" creates a sense of urgency and desperation, as if the singer is reaching out for help or solace. The first verse highlights the struggle to stay on course and maintain control, while recognizing the possibility of failure and the approach of an inevitable end. The second verse portrays a sense of helplessness and vulnerability, as the singer is overwhelmed by the darkness and uncertainty that surrounds them. The repeated line "just a kid in the moonlight" adds to this sense of lost innocence and naivety, as the singer feels small and insignificant against the weight of their struggles.
Overall, the song captures the sense of being "screwed" - of being stuck in a situation that feels impossible to overcome, without any clear solutions or guidance. The lyrics convey a sense of desperation and resignation, while also holding onto a glimmer of hope that things might improve. Kid Cudi's use of repetition and simple, yet powerful imagery creates a visceral and emotional response in the listener, drawing them into the visceral experience of the song.
