The title track «Pangea» - the first single from their upcoming album - shows a band who can still write anthems in Norwegian, and that easily can play at both big festival stages and at small village parties.
Kråkesølv’s music is still anchored in two guitars, bass, drums and lyrics written in their own dialect. But this time they have forced themselves to paint with a broader brush. «Pangea» shows a band challenging staid frameworks, and they are moving into landscapes that bands like Dungen and Radiohead have plowed before. But, as always, Kråkesølv land safely on their own Northern Norwegian feet.
The reason why Kråkesølv now are taking a different direction than before, is mainly due to their producer, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, Susanne Sundfør). In addition to producing, he has contributed in many ways, with giving good advice, with being a motivator and with playing instruments like piano, mellotron and vibraphone. Throughout the entire recording process, Horntveth has also been offering them fresh coffee and fiery cheers.
Their lyrics have the same melancholy character that has coloured Kråkesølv’s universe since their debut album, and they continue to make connections between interpersonal and universal matters.

Tar noen hvitvinsglass
Men du e bare på besøk
Du føles aldri fremmed
Mer som en del av hjemmet
Men du e bare på besøk
Så æ drøm mæ ikke bort
Bomullsmunn og røde øya
Samtalan forsvinn i støyet
Men ka ska vel vi med ord
Æ Sku kanskje ønska at
Æ Kunne vist dæ alt
Men du e bare på besøk
Så æ drøm mæ ikke bort
Æ Gløm dæ like fort som æ gjor sist
Det e ikke første gangen vi har funnet tonen
At hendern møtes under bordet
Men hver gang e siste gang
Det e ganske opplagt at
Vi end opp i lag i natt
Men du e bare på besøk
Så æ drøm mæ ikke bort
Æ Gløm dæ like fort som æ gjor sist
The lyrics of the song "Bare på besøk" by Kråkesølv tell a story of a fleeting and temporary connection. The singer describes someone who occasionally visits, indulging in white wine glasses, but only as a guest. Despite this, the person never feels like a stranger but rather a familiar presence, almost as if they belong and are a part of the home. However, it is emphasized that this visitor is just passing through and not meant to stay.
The first paragraph suggests that the singer does not allow themselves to become too attached or dream about a deeper connection with this visitor. They quickly forget about them, just as easily as they did the last time. It implies a sense of detachment and emotional distance, simply accepting the transitory nature of their interactions.
The second paragraph portrays a scene where the conversations between the singer and the visitor are drowned out by the noise and distractions around them. This could be interpreted as the external world overshadowing the potential for meaningful communication and preventing the singer from expressing themselves fully. The lyrics hint at the idea that words may not be necessary or sufficient for the connection they have.
In the third paragraph, it is mentioned that this is not the first time they have connected and had moments together, suggesting a history between them. The physical intimacy they share, alluded to with hands meeting under the table, constantly seems to be the last time they will experience it. The lyrics convey a bittersweet undertone, acknowledging that every encounter might be the final one.
The final paragraph reinforces the idea that their interaction will never extend beyond temporary encounters. It is acknowledged that they might end up together for the night, but the visitor will still only be a guest. The singer emphasizes their inability to dream or attach themselves to this situation, knowing that they will forget about the visitor just as they have done in the past.
Overall, "Bare på besøk" captures the sentiment of a fleeting connection, where the singer acknowledges their awareness of the temporary nature of their interactions and the impossibility of forming a deeper relationship.
