The title track «Pangea» - the first single from their upcoming album - shows a band who can still write anthems in Norwegian, and that easily can play at both big festival stages and at small village parties.
Kråkesølv’s music is still anchored in two guitars, bass, drums and lyrics written in their own dialect. But this time they have forced themselves to paint with a broader brush. «Pangea» shows a band challenging staid frameworks, and they are moving into landscapes that bands like Dungen and Radiohead have plowed before. But, as always, Kråkesølv land safely on their own Northern Norwegian feet.
The reason why Kråkesølv now are taking a different direction than before, is mainly due to their producer, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, Susanne Sundfør). In addition to producing, he has contributed in many ways, with giving good advice, with being a motivator and with playing instruments like piano, mellotron and vibraphone. Throughout the entire recording process, Horntveth has also been offering them fresh coffee and fiery cheers.
Their lyrics have the same melancholy character that has coloured Kråkesølv’s universe since their debut album, and they continue to make connections between interpersonal and universal matters.

æ endte opp med luft i hjertet
Så gikk æ nesten fra dæ
I jakt på ei fornuftig smerte
Da æ så verdensrommet
Ble jorda til ei klinkekule
Og æ ble fylt av fremmed tomhet
Ingen fortjen dæ men du fortjen jo noen
At vi to sku vær mer modig
Ingen fortjen dæ men du fortjen jo noen
Så æ prøva å lær mæ å gå med stein i skoen
æ laga nok en siste skanse
æ lova vi kan prøv å skap balanse
Til neste år, kanskje
The Norwegian lyrics of Kråkesølv's song Til neste år kanskje convey a sense of confusion, uncertainty, and existential seeking. The singer feels overwhelmed by their emotions, having their breath taken away and their heart full of air. In an attempt to make sense of their pain, they seek a "reasonable" type of pain, perhaps hoping to ground themselves in something more tangible. As they look at the universe, they feel insignificant, filled with a foreign sort of emptiness that makes them lose touch with the present.
The singer acknowledges the value of the person they sing to, recognizing that they don't deserve them but that they deserve someone good. They try to reconcile this by learning to live with discomfort, wearing "stones in their shoes" to challenge themselves. They promise to create balance and to try to meet them again next year, maybe, suggesting that they need time and space to figure things out.
The song's lyrics offer a complex, introspective view of human relationships, personal struggle, and the paradoxical search for pain as a way of finding relief. The use of metaphorical imagery such as the universe and the klinkekule (glass marble) enhances the sense of feeling lost and small. The repetition of the phrase "Til neste år, kanskje" (Until next year, perhaps) reinforces a sense of being stuck in a moment of uncertainty, without knowing whether they will be able to move forward or not.

Du tok pusten fra mæ
You took my breath away
æ endte opp med luft i hjertet
I ended up with air in my heart
Så gikk æ nesten fra dæ
So I almost left you
I jakt på ei fornuftig smerte
In search of a rational pain
Da æ så verdensrommet
When I saw the universe
Ble jorda til ei klinkekule
The earth became a marble
Og æ ble fylt av fremmed tomhet
And I was filled with strange emptiness
Som gjorde at æ gikk vill i nuet
That made me lost in the present
Ingen fortjen dæ men du fortjen jo noen
No one deserves you, but you deserve someone
Så æ prøva å lær mæ å gå med stein i skoen
So I try to learn to walk with a stone in my shoe
æ laga nok en siste skanse
I made one last attempt
æ lova vi kan prøv å skap balanse
I promised we can try to create balance
Til neste år, kanskje
Until next year, maybe
Nok en knallblå himmel
Another bright blue sky
æ hengir mæ til innesitting
I surrender to staying indoors
æ e fremdeles svimmel
I am still dizzy
Og denne dagen finnes ikke
And this day does not exist
æ mista oversikta
I lost my overview
Og du bynn å bli utålmodig
And you start to become impatient
æ hadde forestilt mæ
I had imagined
At vi to sku vær mer modig
That we two should be more courageous
