C'est pas régulier
Pour un pauvre lézard
Qui vit par hasard
Dans la société
Mais la société
Faut pas s'en mêler
J'suis un type à part
On m'dit que j'ai poussé
En dessous d'un gibet
Où mon grand-papa
Balançait déjà
Avec un collier
Un collier tressé
De chanvre il était
Un foutu foulard
A gueule d'ananar
J'avais des copains
Qui mangeaient mon pain
Car le pain c'est fait
Pour être partagé
Dans notre société
C'est pas moi qui l'dis
Mais c'est Jésus-Christ
Un foutu bavard
A gueule d'ananar
Si j'avais des sous
On m'demanderait "Où
Les as-tu gagnés
Sans avoir trimé
Pour la société?"
Mais comme j'en ai pas
Faut lui dire pourquoi
C'est jamais peinard
La graine d'ananar
On m'dit qu'c'est fini
J'vous l'dit comme on l'dit
Et qu'on me pendra
Au nom de la loi
Et d'la société
D'la belle société
Qui s'met à s'mêler
De mettre au rancart
La graine d'ananar
Potence d'oubli
L'oiseau fait son nid
Messieurs les corbeaux
Passeront ma peau
Comme à l'étamis
Mais auparavant
J'aurai comme le vent
Semé quelque part
Ma graine d'ananar
In "Graine D'ananar" (Seed of Anarchist), Ferré adopts an outsider's viewpoint and sings about himself as a "poor lizard" that is living its life by chance, observing society from the outside. Through his lyrics, he suggests that his family has a history of political activism since his grandfather was hanged on a gibbet, and his powerlessness and isolation indicate his anarchist beliefs. Ferré also mentions the notion of sharing bread, which he attributes to Jesus, implying that even religion recognizes the importance of sharing resources. The song highlights societal oppression, with the singer commenting that if he were wealthy, society would question the source of his money but because he is not, there are no questions asked.
Throughout the song, Ferré emphasizes the theme of rebellion as the lead character continually subverts societal expectations. He refers to himself as a "graine d'anar," or anarchist seed, indicating his refusal to conform, and that his seed will be a sign of resistance even after he is gone. Ferré, with his powerful voice and beautiful melody, reminds the listener that even in oppressive circumstances, there remains hope.
