In 1997 the band released its first eponymous album, which was very successful and earned them lots of radio and TV air play and album sales. In 1999 they recorded "Kaleidoscopio", selling over 5,000 copies. Then the band took a hiatus due to the departure of Michel Maluje to Mexico, where he played with Julieta Venegas. In 2005 the band (now including Rodrigo Velasco) returned to the studio to record "Distinto". After that release, the band decided to go their separate ways. None of the two last albums had been as successful as the first one and their hype began to die out.
Francisco Valenzuela released a solo album named "Sirenas" in 2009 and from 2017 onwards he continued to play some gigs under the name "La Rue Morgue" with some of his students in Escuela Moderna de Música, a private music institute in Chile in which he worked as a teacher. On july 7th, 2022, Valenzuela was admitted into the ICU after suffering a stroke. Seven days later, on july 14th, his death was confirmed.
Nunca Fui Tu Amor
La Rue Morgue Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
sin preocupación.
Nunca pediste un deseo,
ni un solo favor.
La verdad es que nunca,
nunca fui tu amor.
Después de todo en mi vida
La verdad es que nunca,
nunca fui tu amor.
Prometiste llamarme,
prometiste ir a Con Con.
Me abriste una puerta,
no tu corazón.
Tu mirada engañaba,
perdida en seducción.
Después de todo en mi vida,
nada tiene solución.
La verdad es que nunca,
nunca fui tu amor (2 veces)
Después de un tiempo,
sigues sin mi amor.
Después de un tiempo,
sigo sin tu amor.
The song "Nunca Fui Tu Amor" by La Rue Morgue talks about being invited into someone's life without any expectation or favor asked, yet realizing that the relationship was never one of love. The lyrics talk about promises made but not kept, an invitation into a person's life but not their heart, and the harsh reality that nothing in life seems to have a solution. Essentially, the song is about unrequited love and the pain that comes with it.
The first verse talks about being invited into someone's life without any expectations or favors asked. The singer is grateful for the invitation but realizes that love was never a part of the equation. The second verse talks about promises made but not fulfilled, with the person only opening a door to their life but not their heart. The chorus repeats the line "the truth is, I never was your love" to emphasize that despite the invitation and promises, the relationship was never one of love. The last verse talks about how time has passed, and the singer and the other person are still without each other's love.
Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on unrequited love and the pain that comes with it. The lyrics are introspective and raw, making the song relatable to anyone who has experienced similar emotions.
