On January 26, 1986, French humorist Coluche, who had set up Les Restos du Cœur a few months earlier, invited a number of artists and public figures to appear on television as a promotional move. The band, whose line-up was never the same, was dubbed "Les Enfoirés" in reference to one of Coluche's catchwords. After Coluche died in a motorbike accident (June 19, 1986) his widow, Véronique Colucci, called on those who had participated to continue his actions, and the band was revived for a further television show. The concept has since evolved into an annual concert, bringing together up to forty artists and celebrities from various backgrounds. The funds raised by the concerts and derived records under the name "Enfoirés" are donated to Les Restos du Cœur.
One of the key features of Les Enfoirés is "La Chanson des Enfoirés", a song which became a sort of hymn to the charity, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, a long-time supporter of the organisation.

J'ai inventé
Une chanson au clair de la lune
Quelques couplets
Finisse bien
Bonjour, je suis la dame brune
J'ai tant marché
Bonjour, je suis la dame brune
Je t'ai trouvé
Fais-moi place au creux de ton lit
Je serai bien
Bien au chaud et bien à l'abri
Contre tes reins
The song La dame brune by Les Enfoirés tells a story of a man who has created a song for a long, mysterious woman with brown hair. He hopes that one day she will hear it and know that it is a love song from him to her. The second verse reveals that the singer is actually the long, brown-haired woman herself and she has been waiting for the man who wrote the song for her. She hears him singing and follows the sound of his guitar, which becomes her guide towards him.
The third verse switches back to the man, who had borrowed a pen from Pierrot to write the song for the woman of his dreams. He took on the role of a poet, letting the words come to him like the wind. The following verse reveals that the woman had also been borrowing Pierrot's pen to write her own poetry, and when she heard the man singing, she followed his voice towards him.
The final verse brings their journey full circle as the woman introduces herself to the man and asks to be held closely. The song ends on a hopeful note, suggesting that their love story will have a happy ending. The lyrics are filled with beautiful imagery and poetic language that conveys the emotions of longing and desire.
