LAY LOW
Lou Doillon Lyrics

That all there is here and now
And you and I
Hey, oh
Let's turn our backs
To all the reasons why we shouldn't
Let us lay low, in each other's stare
In the morning lights
While the world gets busy
We lay low, we lay low
Hey, oh
And I know it wasn't wise
To look straight back into your eyes
And I don't need you to tell me so
Hey, oh
And I don't want to think, no
I don't want to know
You tell me when it's my time to go
Hey, oh
In the morning lights
While the world gets busy
We lay low, we lay low
In the morning lights
While the world gets busy
We lay low, we lay low
Hey, oh
Let's just pretend for a little while
That all there is here and now
And you and I
Hey, oh
Let's turn our backs
To all the reasons why we shouldn't
Let us lay low, in each other's stare
Hey, oh
In the morning lights
While the world gets busy
We lay low, we lay low
In the morning lights
While the world gets busy
We lay low, we lay low
Hey, oh
Hey, oh
Hey, oh
Hey, oh
The lyrics of Lou Doillon’s “Lay Low” opens with an invitation to pretend for a while that there is nothing but the present moment shared between two people. The song suggests that they can turn a blind eye to the reasons they should not be together and choose to lay low in each other’s company. As the world becomes busier in the morning lights, they remain in their own space and are content just being together. The lyrics reveal that the singer knows it may not be wise to stare back into the eyes of the person she loves, and she may not want to know what he thinks about their situation. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, calling for a temporary escape from the world’s demands to the pure and simple peace found in that special someone’s presence.
