Generation Swine
Mötley Crüe Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't care now what I do
'Cause I am just a fool like you
Get my way now everyday
I take all I can get
Just like you
Just like you

Back in ya face such a disgrace
We're the generation swine
A rat race from outer space
Gonna blow your mind
Gotta get away
Gotta get away

Aggravation
Gotta blow my brains
Gotta blow my brains
We're the generation
I want more
It's not enough
We get our thrills
Right from this stuff
So my mind's a sewage sump,
It's smelling bad and out of luck
Just like you back in ya face...
Such a disgrace
We're the Generation Swine

Gimme no lip, here comes my fist
I don't need it this time
Gettin' blown away,
Gettin' thrown away
Degeneration
This here song's for you,
The doomed welcome my fools to
The Planet Boom
Thinkin' that I'll grab my space
Gun leave this place right
Now for the zoom

Gimme some space,
Get outta my face,
We're the Generation Swine
Don't need your lip,
Your ignorance
We're the generation
Always on a run,
Always on a run
New sensation
Want to go insane,

Gonna go insane
We're the Generation Swine

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mötley Crüe's song Generation Swine talk about a generation of people who don't care about anything and are just trying to get what they can. The first verse begins with the lyrics "I don't care now what I do" which set the tone for the rest of the song. The use of "just like you" repeated several times throughout the song serves to emphasize that this generation is not alone in their behavior. The chorus, "Back in ya face such a disgrace, we're the generation swine", indicates that this generation is rejecting traditional societal norms and values and forging a new path for themselves.

The second verse talks about the frustration and aggravation the singer is feeling. He wants more and it's not enough for him. He describes his mind as a "sewage sump" and "smelling bad and out of luck". This feeling of being trapped in a bleak and unsatisfying life is a common theme in rock music, and it is clear that the Generation Swine feels this way too. The chorus is repeated twice more, with added emphasis on the "rat race from outer space".

The bridge of the song is a call to action for this generation. The singer is tired of being talked down to and is ready to fight back. He wants to go insane and leave this place behind for the "zoom". The final chorus is about breaking free and not being held back anymore. The Generation Swine are a force to be reckoned with and they are not going to take it anymore.

I have been told that Xena Le Vey from the Satanic Church in San Francisco financed the band, and provided Motley Crue with the proper connections early in their career. It might have been her older sister Karla Le Vey , it's been years since I initially came Across the rumor. Haven't been able to find out from the Internet

Mick was never nor is schizophrenic. When he was dealing with his AS in the later 90’s/early 00’s, the medication he was on made him feel schizophrenic, but he does not actually have the illness.

@vik saggu What made you feel like he was different back then?

vik saggu I don’t have the same disease as mick But from age 17 my back always hurt and at 22 found out I have arthritis in my back and I will tell you having back pain 24/7 makes you go crazy not being able to stand for long periods of time experimenting with drugs mixed with that pain causing depression isn’t a good combo. Same thing with Phil anselmo from pantera had constant back pain and depression led to (h) use. It’s a rough time.

Mick Mars is an alcoholic and not Schizophrenic. Mick doesn't believe in any psych or rehab center help, thus why he cleaned up on his own, when the 3 others went to rehab in 1988/89
