O Mio Bambino Caro
Malena Ernman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Mi piace, è bello, bello
Vo'andare in Porta Rossa
a comperar l'anello!
Sì, sì, ci voglio andare!
e se l'amassi indarno,
andrei sul Ponte Vecchio,
ma per buttarmi in Arno!
O Dio, vorrei morir!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!
In Malena Ernman's O Mio Bambino Caro, the singer expresses her love for her beloved "baby" and her desire to go to Porta Rossa to buy him a ring. However, she also acknowledges that if her love is unrequited, she would go to the Ponte Vecchio to throw herself into the Arno river. The singer is consumed by her feelings and tormented by the thought of not being able to have her love returned. She pleads for mercy from her father, saying "Babbo, pietà, pietà!"
