They started with the name "Sombrero Verde", but in the late 80's it was changed to the current name. They have a long trajectory as musicians and the band underwent two lineup changes in the 90's. The most known members are Fher Olvera in the vocals, and author of most of the songs they play, and Alex, the drummer.

After several lineup changes, the group released Cuando los Ángeles Lloran (1995), which is noted for its stylistic departure from the band's previous work. Maná followed with Sueños Líquidos (1997), Revolución de Amor (2002), and Amar es Combatir (2007), which continued the group's success. The band's most recent album, Drama y Luz, was released in April 2011.
The band's sound draws from the pop rock, Latin pop, calypso, reggae and ska music genres. They initially received international commercial success in Australia and Spain and have since gained popularity and exposure in the US, Western Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Huele a tristeza
Maná Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sabe a tu ausencia, sabe a dolor
Huele a tristeza este corazón
Sabe a dolor
Necesito de alguien, alguien a quien amar
Necesito dar todo, todo mi corazón
Te he estado buscando, cielo, tierra, y mar
Debajo de las piedras y hasta en el sol
¿Dónde está la otra parte de mi corazón?
Ay amor ¿Dónde andas? ¿Dónde vivirás?
¿Dónde, dónde estás?
Huele a tristeza este corazón
Sabe a tu ausencia, sabe a dolor
Huele a tristeza este corazón
Sabe a tu ausencia, sabe a dolor
Huele a tristeza este corazón
Sabe a tu ausencia, sabe a dolor
Huele a tristeza este corazón
Sabe, sabe
Sabe a dolor
Sabe, sabe
Sabe a dolor
The lyrics of Maná's Huele a tristeza express a feeling of heartbreak and longing for a lost love. The singer describes his eyes being filled with tears and his heart feeling empty and anxious, as he searches for the other half of his heart, the person he loves. The heartbreak of the separation is so strong, it makes his heart and soul ache, as everything around him smells and tastes like sadness and pain, reminding him of the absence of his loved one. He is desperate for someone to love and give his heart to, but he cannot find anyone who can fill the void left by his love. The repetition of the lyrics “Huele a tristeza este corazón, Sabe a tu ausencia, sabe a dolor” emphasizes the depth and intensity of his sadness and loss.
