La Golondrina
Manuel & The Music Of The Mountains Lyrics

04-MI AMIGA LA GOLONDRINA

Cada año regresa al mismo sitio,
como cualquier peregrina
y regresa buscando el mismo nido,
en la misma esquina.

Y NO PUEDE ESTAR SIN TI,
SI TÚ NO ESTÁS EN LA ERMITA,
ELLA TE BUSCA Y SE OBSTINA,
LOCA VA POR LA MARISMA,
MI AMIGA LA GOLONDRINA.

Cada año regresa en primavera,
al lado del campanario,
sobrevuela la aldea la primera
y siempre a diario.

Impaciente espera que se abra,
las puertas cada mañana,
ella quiere darle los buenos días,
a su soberana.

Y le gusta que toquen las campanas
y abre sus alas al cielo
y le encanta ver a los peregrinos
y alegra su vuelo.

Overall Meaning

In "La Golondrina," Manuel & Music of The Mountains sing about the annual return of a swallow to its nesting place. The lyrics describe the swallow as a pilgrim, always seeking the same corner and nest. The bird cannot be without the person it longs for, and if that person is not at the hermitage, the swallow insists on finding them, going crazy searching throughout the marsh. The bird returns every spring, flying over the village, waiting impatiently for the doors to open each morning. It wants to greet its queen, and it enjoys hearing the bells tolling. The swallow opens its wings to the sky and delights in the sight of pilgrims, bringing joy to its flight.

This song beautifully captures the devotion and loyalty of the swallow, which symbolizes someone's unwavering love and commitment. The swallow's annual pilgrimage signifies the constancy and dedication in a relationship, always returning to the same place, seeking the presence of their beloved.

This is the re-issued album. I have the original one. The cover looks a lot different. There is a track on this album called "Gardens in Ibiza". Ronnie Aldrich actually wrote the song but Ronnie didn't release his version until a year later. It's kind of a cute song. Maybe you could post it.
