In "Djevojacko Prezime," Maya sings about the beauty that her mother has given her, but also the pain that comes along with it. She talks about how the people who love her only see her physical appearance but do not understand the emotional pain that she has to endure. Her mother taught her to be obedient, but she has decided to become emotionless instead. She proudly carries her maiden name and promises to find someone who will love and respect her for who she truly is or remain single and happy. However, the repetitive use of "vidi majko" (see mother) throughout the song suggests that she seeks her mother's approval for her decisions.
The lyrics are relatable to many young women who struggle to find their place in a society that constantly objectifies and undervalues them. Maya emphasizes the importance of self-love and staying true to oneself, even if it means choosing a path that others may not agree with.
