Intro
Maya Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Why don't we talk anymore
How did it get so wrong
Why did you run so far away
Now when I look back at
Our memories
Slip like sand
Guess there's just nothing left to save
You said things I can't erase
The damage created space
So I could heal the scars that remain
I guess we just see

Differently
It's hard to believe

Overall Meaning

In these deeply reflective lyrics of Maya's song "Intro," the singer expresses feelings of confusion and loss in a relationship that has seemingly faded away. The opening lines reflect a sense of longing and sadness as the singer wonders why communication has dwindled to the point of silence. The phrase "Why don't we talk anymore" conveys a sense of loneliness and disconnect, highlighting the absence of a once meaningful connection. This sense of disconnection is further emphasized by the question "How did it get so wrong," suggesting a gradual deterioration of the relationship that the singer may struggle to understand.

The lyrics also touch on themes of distance and separation, as evidenced by the line "Why did you run so far away." This powerful imagery evokes a sense of abandonment and emotional distance, hinting at a feeling of being left behind or abandoned by the other person. The singer's introspective tone and poignant questions reflect a sense of loss and yearning for a past closeness that has since eroded. The use of physical distance as a metaphor for emotional distance adds a layer of complexity to the song's exploration of fractured relationships.

As the singer looks back on the memories shared with the other person, they describe them as slipping away like sand, emphasizing their ephemeral and transient nature. This imagery of memories slipping through the fingers suggests a sense of inevitability and impermanence, highlighting the fleeting nature of human connections. The realization that "there's just nothing left to save" conveys a sense of resignation and acceptance of the end of the relationship, as the singer comes to terms with the irreparable damage that has been done.

The lyrics delve into the aftermath of the relationship's demise, with the singer acknowledging the hurtful words that were spoken and the wounds that were inflicted. The line "You said things I can't erase" speaks to the lasting impact of hurtful words on the psyche and emotions. The mention of "heal the scars that remain" hints at a process of inner healing and self-reflection, as the singer grapples with the pain and emotional baggage left behind by the failed relationship. The acknowledgment that "we just see differently" hints at a fundamental difference in perspective or values that may have contributed to the breakdown of the relationship, underscoring the challenge of reconciling conflicting viewpoints and experiences.

Im currently at college in a games design course, hopefully moving to Uni next year to continue doing games design or focusing more on visual effects. However, im in a position where I kind of feel like im not sure which direction to be looking at. What I mean is the software I use in college is 3DS Max while the software I see being used in most- if not all Uni's is Maya and a few others. If anyone has any advice to what I should be focusing on and what I should be learning if I want to get in that industry, that would be a great help!

Maya Learning Channel

It actually really depends on the specific studio you're looking at. Some use Maya and some use Max. However, I would say that if games is your goal, Maya is the more predominant of the two.
