Wasting My Hate
Metallica Lyrics

Good day. How do?
And I send a smile to you
Don't waste, waste your breath
And I won't waste my hate on you

Ain't gonna waste my hate
Ain't gonna waste my hate on you
I think I'll keep it for myself

Ain't gonna give no more
Ain't got the time to help you score
I think it's time you pleased yourself
Yourself

Good day. How do?
And I send a smile to you
Don't waste, waste your breath
And I won't waste my hate on you
Waste my hate on you
Hate

You think you're worthy now?
You think enough to even raise the brow
And to laugh and tip that two-pronged crown?

Well I see my hands, I see my feet
I feel that blood that pumps in beat
But where the hell's my mind going now?
Dead gone now

Good day. How do?
And I send a smile to you
Don't waste, waste your breath
And I won't waste my hate on you
Waste my hate on you

Think I'll keep it for myself

Hate

Ain't gonna waste my hate
But I'm so greedy when they say
Better to give than to receive

Ain't gonna waste my hate
Ain't got time to waste my hate on you
I think I'll keep it all for myself
For myself

Good day. How do?
And I send a smile to you
Don't waste, waste your breath
And I won't waste my hate on you
Waste my hate on you

Think I'll keep it for myself

Hate

@Celatra, problem is the mental struggles of most young people usually start to seem this way even for themselves just few years later. It's not SO bad, just lacks much depth, or much reason for that matter. You fight with a friend, or a girl, or you don't get to choose a job, or you don't like rules, and there you are, huge drama to die for. Meh.
The Back, then Load and ReLoad are better in capturing deeper shades of internal struggles, and have more metaphorical meaning(s) than titles and initial review of the lyrics suggest. Combined with the experimental sound, the band internal chemistry and reasons from outside any grown up Metallica would be able to relate to it. That makes them good. Especially Load, following the iconic state of The Black.

On a side note, I find much of the 80's westerners struggles trivial compared to what problems we faced on the other side of the wall (fence, whatever). Hell, I had more existential problems at 6 to 10 than 90% of the US population face until their 30s, because we were fed obligations, obedience and totalitarian order. Can you relate to that? Could James or anyone in Metallica? No, of course. By my teenage years most metal was either nord-ish sagas (at least gets point for being epic), or whine about govt control over lives. Their first two albums may have legendary status, but they sound old as hell.

They did much better with Master of Puppets (it's brilliant in other ways, and it is going to be eternally good), then took something like an U-turn with the Justice, which, despite being masterfully executed, also somehow lacks a bass guitar, feels too much like "we just wanted to beat the crap out of everything", and only reaches so far as towards some soon to be obsolete progress (which makes some songs so good, yet they also started sounding like old stuff much too soon).

I'm not going to discuss 1991, it made them what they are. You just can't throw any shit on a diamond, it doesn't care.

You can clearly see how Load has grown in popularity with time. It's not just new people, it's those people that love Metallica growing up and catching up with their development. That's what makes it so good. And it's going to be just as good ages from now. ReLoad continues the trend. It's like being in their heads... and they in yours too.

Everyone says people hate this album but I’ve never actually seen someone say anything negative about it. I’m personally a fan of it because I listen to songs for melodies, and not for speed or anything else like that. So even though it’s different from “normal Metallica”, it still sounds great.

Tortured Soul

If this album was done by anyone else people wouldn't have gotten so pissy about it. It's a good album, just not thrash like we were expecting.

Codiwon Kanobi

Musically this is their best album. People hated it at the time because it was different but it shows how all of them grew as musicians.

Guilt free White man!!

Its St Anger that recieved all the hate

I will never understand why "Load" is called the worst of their albums.
There are so many songs that are literally on fire!

@Michael Shields actually found that out shortly after making that comment.. lol. Can’t believe it’s true, but oh well. I still say it’s fire sometimes just for satire, hence why I didn’t delete that comment.

Michael Shields

@FrostBite Gamez that’s not fire on the album cover… it’s blood mixed with jizz. True Story

Michael Shields

game buzza, you literally must not know what the word “literally” means. 🤷🏻‍♂️

FrostBite Gamez

Hence the fire on the album cover 😎

My favorite Metallica album actually. The older you get the more you like it.
