My Funny Valentine
Miles Davis Lyrics

No one here can love or understand me
Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me
Pack up all my cares and woe, here I go, winging low
Bye, bye, blackbird

Where somebody waits for me
Sugar's sweet, so is she
Bye, bye, blackbird

No one here can love or understand me
Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me
Make my bed and light the light, I'll arrive late tonight
Blackbird, bye, bye

Bye, bye, blackbird
Where somebody waits for me
Sugar's sweet, so is she
Bye, bye, blackbird

No one here can love or understand me
Oh what hard luck stories they all hand me
Make my bed and light the light, I'll arrive late tonight
Blackbird, bye, bye

My funny valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet your my favorite work of art
Is your Figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little week?
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?
But don't change your hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is Valentines day
Is your figure less than Greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to Speak
Are you smart
But don't change your hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day

Matt I think you've missed and disregarded that it's a chance to play with a legend, icon and a absolute genius
I concur with your description it's sublime

May I add that personally I would describe the track as musically nirvana + wicked

All the best and take care Matt

Rest in Peace Miles Davis

Sadly Missed, Never forgotten

Thanks Mellow

I felt sorry for Coltrane when I first realised he wasn't on this track. I guess he killed the changes and Miles wouldn't let him play.

Thank God for Jazz music smh
Nothing like it...

Rest easy, Miles.

It's a good example why Miles was really bad😎 he used the space. Breaks. His tonality was incredible. His phrases are timeless and he used high and low notes for perfect beauty 😍

I started appreciating Miles at a very young age.  Truly one of the greatest jazz artists.

Me too, age 5 my mother played Miles, Getz & Gilberto, Thelonious Monk, Brubeck. . . Got to see Brubeck a couple years before he passed . . at the Boston center for the Musical Performing Arts theater; best sound effects ever! 💜✌

Funny story. I am watching "Homeland Season" 1 Episode 10 and this song comes on. I've heard many different versions of 'My Funny Valentine', but never this one. I tell myself that trumpet sounds like Miles Davis. I come to YouTube to check if Miles Davis played "My Funny Valentine" and if it is the same one as in "Homeland."

And lo and behold
