Band members … Read Full Bio ↴Miranda! is an Argentinean electropop band formed in 2002.
Band members include Alejandro Sergi (vocals), Juliana Gattas (vocals), Lolo Fuentes (guitar) and Bruno de Vicenti(programming, who later on left the band. Now they are also performing with Monoto, the new bassist.
The History of Miranda! begins in 2002, when Alejandro Sergi decided to join Juliana Gattas, Lolo Fuentes and Bruno de Vicentis and start a "techno pop" music band, though they were classified as a rock band. When they began to play around the Buenos Aires Underground, they started playing their music in different places, making their number of followers grow at each performance.
Their first CD was Es Mentira (Spanish for It's a Lie). It consisted of ten songs.
In 2004 Miranda! edited their second studio album, called Sin Restricciones (Without Restrictions), made up of twelve songs, including Yo te diré (I'll Tell You), Don (Gift) El Profe (The Teacher) and Navidad (Christmas) as its highlights.
The band was named after the Argentinian actor Osvaldo Miranda. Since the band began playing, they wanted to meet Osvaldo Miranda. This finally took place during the Buen Día Arriba festival, in December 2002, in a bar near a park at Palermo Viejo.
The band combines love themes, nice ballads, and electronic waltzes mixed with some of sexual desire, creating very dance-able songs and carefully prepared shows.
There is a big controversy regarding the sexual content in some of Miranda!'s songs' lyrics, mostly in El Profe ("The Teacher" in English) – which was released as a single; and is about a male teacher fantasizing about sexualy abusing one of his female students, probably suggesting pedophilia in the verse "Quisiera que me mientas cuando pregunte tu edad" (I wish you would lie to me when I ask you your age) and also "Quiero que te toques para mi, quiero tocarme y acabar en ti" (I want you to touch yourself for me, I want to touch me and end up on you).

Se ve muy bien
Sabe mejor
Probalo antes
Que yo me voy
A otro lugar
Lejos de aquí
A rescatarte
Si no llevo sandía
Chocolate y limón
Si no elijo durazno
Me deprimo y me pasmo
Y me convierto en un melón
Amarillo y jugoso
Yo me pongo meloso
Y pido fruta de estación
El helado, la fruta
Como loca disfruta
Me la llevo en camisón
Tucán, tucán, tucán
Con el recuerdo de tucán, tucán, tucán
Con el recuerdo de
Hubo un señor
Que te atrapó
Algo peor
Era tu padre
El te prohibió
La sensación
De saborear
Te hizo culpable
Pero ahora resulta
Que te guía la culpa
Y es pecado capital
El helado de fresa
Puesto sobre la mesa
Preparado para actuar
Chocolate y cereza
Me hace bien la cabeza
Y te voy a salpicar
Con la crema del cielo
La banana de freddo
Y el recuerdo de tucán
Tucán, tucán, tucán
Con el recuerdo de tucán, tucán, tucán
Con el recuerdo de
Pero no me querrías
Si no llevo sandía
Chocolate y limón
Si no elijo durazno
Me deprimo y me pasmo
Y me convierto en un melón
Amarillo y jugoso
Yo me pongo meloso
Y pido fruta de estación
El helado, la fruta
Como loca disfruta
Me la llevo en camisón
Tucán, tucán, tucán
Con el recuerdo de tucán, tucán, tucán.

The lyrics of Miranda!'s song "Tucán" delve into the themes of desire, escape, and indulgence, using vivid imagery and playful language. The singer seems to be contemplating their attraction to someone or something, possibly symbolized by the tucán (toucan). The repetition of the phrase "tucán, tucán, tucán" throughout the song reinforces this motif, suggesting a persistent thought or memory that haunts the singer.
The first verse sets the scene with the singer observing something enticing and tempting. They describe the sensory experience of tasting and enjoying it before they decide to leave for a new place. The mention of bringing specific fruits and flavors like sandía (watermelon), chocolate, limón (lemon), durazno (peach), and melón (melon) creates a whimsical ambiance, hinting at a longing for sweetness and pleasure.
The lyrics then introduce a character, described as "un señor" (a man) who seems to have a negative influence or control over the situation. This figure, possibly symbolizing authority or restrictions, is portrayed as someone who hinders the singer's freedom to savor life's pleasures. The mention of being made to feel guilty for indulging in simple joys like ice cream further emphasizes the theme of repression and longing for liberation.
As the song progresses, the singer appears to rebel against the constraints imposed by the "señor" by embracing decadent treats like fresa (strawberry), chocolate, cereza (cherry), and crema del cielo (heavenly cream). These indulgences are depicted as a form of escapism or defiance against societal norms, culminating in a dreamy and imaginative scenario where the singer envisions themselves covered in sweet delights.
Overall, "Tucán" seems to explore the tension between desire and restraint, tradition and liberation, in a lighthearted and poetic manner. The playful lyrics and whimsical imagery create a sense of longing for freedom and enjoyment, inviting listeners to reflect on their own cravings and fantasies. The repetition of certain phrases and the symbolic presence of the tucán further enhance the song's dreamy and mystical quality, leaving room for individual interpretation and personal connection.
