Dear Friend

Softly out of mind
Realise you’re alive
Lucky day for the lover
Hopefully I’m alone
I hate to fake all along
Hopefully I’m alone
You miss me since you’re gone again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, feeling lonely as I am
I’m stuck here in the middle
Softly out of mind
Realise you’re alive
Lucky day for the lover
Hopefully I’m alone
I hate to fake all along
Hopefully I’m alone
You miss me since you’re gone again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, feeling lonely as I am
Since I’m awake I’m on my own
Losing all my friends in a muddy lane
It’s so fine, so high again
Please one more fix I need it
Just to never let it go now
Since the Grateful Dead is playing
Since I’m awake I’m on my own
Since I’m awake I’m on my own
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, miss me again
Dear friend, feeling lonely as I am
The lyrics to "Dear Friend" by No Money Kids convey a sense of loneliness and longing for connection with someone who is missed. It seems that the singer is stuck in a state of being disconnected from the world around them, "stuck here in the middle" and "softly out of mind," and is searching for someone to be there with them. The mention of the Grateful Dead and a "muddy lane" may suggest a desire for escape through drugs or music, but ultimately it seems that the singer just wants to feel like someone cares about them, saying "Dear friend, miss me again" repeatedly throughout the song.
The repetition of the phrase "Dear friend, miss me again" creates a sense of urgency and desperation, as if the singer is reaching out in hopes of finding someone who will care enough to miss them back. The line "hopefully I'm alone" suggests that the singer may have been hurt by others in the past and is now more comfortable being by themselves, but this doesn't mean they don't want to be missed or loved.
Overall, "Dear Friend" is a poignant and relatable song about the human need for connection and the pain of feeling isolated and alone.
