Enjoy The Silence
No Use for a Name Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand?
Oh my little girl
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Enjoy the silence
The song "Enjoy the Silence" by No Use for a Name is a cover of the Depeche Mode classic. The lyrics speak of the power of silence and how sometimes words can do more harm than good. The song begins with the singer expressing how words, like violence, can break the silence and come crashing into his little world. He goes on to admit that words are painful to him and pierce right through him, and he wishes someone could understand this. In the chorus, he explains that all he ever wanted and needed is someone to be in his arms, and words are just unnecessary and can only harm.
The second verse focuses on the intensity of feelings and how words are trivial when compared to the pleasures and pain of life. The singer emphasizes that words are meaningless and forgettable when compared to the things that truly matter. The chorus is repeated, emphasizing the idea that silence is often better than words, and all we ever truly want is to be with the ones we love.
