Rodrigo's debut studio album, SOUR, topped the charts globally and was met with widespread critical acclaim. She is nominated in seven categories at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Album of the Year for SOUR, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for "drivers license". Time named her the 2021 Entertainer of the Year and Billboard named her the 2022 Woman of the Year.
Rodrigo signed with Interscope Records and Geffen Records in 2020. She negotiated the record deal to secure for herself ownership of the masters of her music. On January 8, 2021, she released her debut single, "drivers license", which she co-wrote with producer Dan Nigro. Within the week of its release, "drivers license" was critically acclaimed, and broke Spotify's record twice for most daily streams ever for a non-holiday song with over 15.7 million global streams on January 11 and over 17 million global streams the next day. It went on to break another Spotify record for the first song in history to hit 80 million streams in 7 days. The song debuted at number one on Billboard Hot 100 and reached number one in numerous other countries. Rodrigo stated in an interview that "It's been the absolute craziest week of my life ... My entire life just, like, shifted in an instant."
On April 1, 2021, Rodrigo released her follow-up single, "deja vu", which debuted at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first artist to debut their first two releases in the top 10 of the Hot 100. The third single preceding her debut album, "good 4 u", followed on May 14, 2021, and became her second single to debut at number one on the Hot 100. SOUR, her debut studio album, was released on May 21, 2021, to critical acclaim. Charlie Gunn of The Forty-Five called it "the greatest coming-of-age album since early Taylor Swift or Lorde". Slate's Chris Molanphy said its first three singles alone established Rodrigo's "early status as Gen-Z's most versatile new artist". According to Clash critic Robin Murray, Rodrigo is regarded as one of Generation Z's finest artists, while Variety dubbed her "the Voice of her Generation" in its cover story of Rodrigo. SOUR debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and spent a total of five weeks at the spot, becoming the longest-reigning number-one album by a female artist in 2021.
In June 2021, Rodrigo premiered SOUR Prom, a prom-themed concert film on YouTube. On December 6, 2021, Rodrigo announced a world tour, including tour stops in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Three days later, she was named Entertainer of the Year by Time. In an Instagram post on December 24, 2021, Rodrigo uploaded a snippet of a Christmas song called "The Bels" that she wrote and recorded at age five. According to Billboard, Rodrigo closed 2021 as the best-selling singles artist worldwide, placing eight songs on the year-end Global 200 chart, including "drivers license" at number four, "good 4 u" at number nine, and "Deja Vu" at number 27. In the US and UK, SOUR was respectively the third and fourth best-selling album of 2021. SOUR and "drivers license" were also respectively Spotify's most streamed album and song globally. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) ranked Rodrigo as the tenth best-selling artist of 2021 and SOUR as the second best-selling album of 2021.
On February 17, 2022, Rodrigo announced and released the trailer of her Disney+ documentary film 'Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u', which was released on March 25, 2022.
Can’t Catch Me Now

There's writing all over the wall
Shadows of us are still dancin'
In every room and every hall
There's snow fallin' over the city
You thought that it would wash away
The bitter taste of my fury
And all of the messes you made
But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze
My footsteps on the ground
You'll see my face in every place
But you can't catch me now
Through wading grass, the months will pass
You'll feel it all around
I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
But you can't catch me now
No, you can't catch me now
Bet you thought I'd never do it
Thought it'd go over my head
I bet you figured I'd pass with the winter
Be somethin' easy to forget
Oh, you think I'm gone 'cause I left
But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze
My footsteps on the ground
You'll see my face in every place
But you can't catch me now
Through wading grass, the months will pass
You'll feel it all around
I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
But you can't catch me now
No, you can't catch me now
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down
You can't, you can't catch me now
I'm comin' like a storm into your town
You can't, you can't catch me now
You can't, you can't, you can't
There's blood on the side of the mountain
It's turning a new shade of red
Yeah, sometimes the fire you founded
Don't burn the way you'd expect
Yeah, you thought that this was the end
The lyrics to Olivia Rodrigo's song "Can't Catch Me Now" convey a sense of empowerment and resilience in the face of a past romantic relationship. The opening lines, "There's blood on the side of the mountain, There's writing all over the wall," suggest a turbulent history and a lingering impact. The shadows of their presence continue to dance in every room and hall, symbolizing the lasting memories and emotions associated with the relationship.
The mention of snow falling over the city implies a sense of cleansing or renewal, but the bitterness and anger that the singer feels remain present. The lyrics affirm that the other person may have believed they had escaped the consequences of their actions, but the singer asserts their presence in unexpected ways. They metaphorically inhabit the natural world, being in the trees and the breeze, leaving their footsteps on the ground. Their face appears in every place, reminding the other person of their past transgressions.
The chorus reinforces the idea that the singer cannot be caught or forgotten. They declare that they will be present everywhere, in the wind, the grass, and the passing of time. The second verse challenges the other person's expectations, emphasizing their strength and resilience. The singer voices their determination not to be disregarded or underestimated.
Overall, the lyrics of "Can't Catch Me Now" speak of finding empowerment and a sense of freedom after a difficult relationship. It speaks to the strength to move on and the refusal to be defined by past experiences.

why would people be upset with this song in the credits when many people love it because it's faithful adaptation to the book? It tells not just Lucy but also Rue and Katniss.
I strongly believe Snow loves Lucy. He would not make huge sacrifices to save Lucy life, which other mentors have not done to their tributes.
How can Snow assumes glory and power and wealth, when Lucy chances of survival at the Hunger Games is slim to none without his help. Lucy is no fighter, she is a damsel in distress
Snow knew he would be penalized or punished for helping Lucy win, despite cheating and putting his family and his life at stake.
If you have read the book,
Snow family was rich. His mother died during childbirth and lost his sister.
Snow lost his father after the first rebellion.
I guess it's understandable why Snow hates rebellion/rebels or any uprising.
and Snow moral deterioration to madness and descent into cruelty in the Hunger Games Trilogy was because of many tragedies in his life.
@Lizzie-pv3gj
@@nelllalli770 I couldn't agree more. She loves the wilderness, nature and freedom. He loves the Capitol, power and control.
In the book, Snow family was rich. He lost his mother and sibling while giving birth. His father died during the First Rebellion. Snow is an Orphan.
Snow became poor. He lived with his Aunt and cousin.
Snow and his cousin witnessed how people resort to eating human remains during the Dark Ages of Rebellion.
No wonder Snow wanted to regain control and power. And why he hated rebellion and rebels cause of his past.
All tragic things happened to Snow shaped his mindset.
I think Lucy was his last chance but he lost her. And he descent into sociopath
@tristantse8519
@cristinavieru4316 from what I've heard the book isn't really specific and leaves it open to the imagination but to me it's that he's this guy trying so hard to seem and be good in both the capitols and districts eyes since he himself is like a poor capitol citizen.
He's got like the aid of his cousin but even so after all that's happened it's not enough and everything leads back to his family and the humans innate desire for power, social status and money.
The story is a making of a villain, takes us through how mentally deranged he becomes like while he helps Lucy, all the things he does are back handed (including the murders) which lead us to feeling a false sense of hope but in reality his mother's powder mirror and dad's handkerchief just reflect that in reality family is what was important.
His anxiety and fear results in all his cunning and aggressive behaviour and ultimately leads him to doubt the one person he loves. And in his necessity to seem good he tries to justify all his actions which has resulted in coping mechanisms - denial (denies killing lucy) repression (forgets any memory of knowing what happened to her) and displacement (places the blame on Lucy by thinking she betrayed him, she left him, etc).
In psychology these coping mechanisms are alright in the short term but under the guidance of the doctor and capitol, along with retaining these delusions result in ultimately current day president snow who seems to think that no one other than himself matters (I mean he even defiles his cousin by changing her skin to look like a tiger in the name of fashion).
I mean that's my take on the movie but yea
