1. Omar is a UK soul artist of Chinese, African and Indo-Jamaican descent. Born Omar Lye-Fook (1969) in Canterbury England, Omar has been making albums since the early 1990s and his work is often compared to Stevie Wonder’s work of the 1970s. After the lukewarm US sales for the LP “For Pleasure,” subsequent Omar releases were only available as pricey imports. Now Omar releases his own recordings, tours the UK often, occasionally making brief tours in the US. He is often highly regarded by his US contemporaries such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Common, and Stevie Wonder.

2. Omar Akram is the son of a United Nations diplomat, Omar Akram spent many of his early years traveling the world, soaking up the musical traditions of such exotic locales as Afghanistan, Cuba, France, and the Czech Republic.
By the age of 14, he was considered a piano prodigy. In his late teens, he discovered the boundary-pushing sounds of Jean Michel Jarre (France), Kitaro (Japan), and Vangelis (Greece), and began to absorb their independent musical influences. At the same time, Omar Akram remained intrigued by such classical composers as Bach and Mozart, and used much of their thematic coherence, comprehensible structure, and clear rhythmic control to craft his own original compositions.

As Long as You Believe
Omar Lyrics

Why can't I feel your soft touch?
I can't help but feel your cold
I need you talk to me, love
You make me dance, I'm so lost
Afraid of my life if you're gone
You lift my brain off my skull
I can't get enough
Enough from you
I can't think straight
I Don't wanna go astray
Close to lose my mind
To you
This absence inside
Grows blue
Please don't change
I'm not ready yet
Please don't change
Please don't drift away
I long to have you with me
If only you'd be with me
I guess you won't be with me
I'll
I'll
I'll
I'll
In the song "As Long as You Believe" by Omar, the lyrics express a sense of longing and desperation for love and connection. The opening lines "Why don't you talk to me, love? Why can't I feel your soft touch?" convey a yearning for intimacy and communication that seems to be lacking in the relationship. The singer feels a sense of emotional distance and coldness from their partner, which is causing them distress.
The next stanza suggests that the singer feels lost and afraid of what life would be like without their partner. The line "You lift my brain off my skull" could be interpreted as the partner bringing joy and excitement into the singer's life, while "You filled my head with your love" indicates that the singer's thoughts are consumed by their feelings for this person.
The repetition of "I can't get enough, Enough from you" emphasizes the singer's insatiable desire for more love and attention from their partner. The following lines "I can't think straight, I Don't wanna go astray" suggest that the singer's emotions are overwhelming and may be clouding their judgment or leading them off course.
As the song progresses, the singer expresses a fear of losing their mind and feeling a deep emptiness inside that is growing "blue," symbolizing sadness or melancholy. The plea "Please don't change, I'm not ready yet" reveals the singer's fear of their partner altering or leaving the relationship, indicating a reluctance to face that change.
The final lines of the song convey a sense of resignation and acceptance of the possible reality that the singer's longing for their partner may not be fulfilled. The repetition of "I'll" in the last stanza suggests a sense of continuation or enduring despite the uncertainty and disappointment in the relationship. Overall, these lyrics portray a complex emotional landscape of love, longing, fear, and vulnerability in the face of potential loss.
