Taranis Jupiter
Omnia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Taranis
Jupiter
Donar
Odin
Wotan

Ancient runes burn inside
Flying high on sacred wings
Ancient gods laugh within me
Screaming loud I sing

Ta!
Mighty Odin , I Invoke thee
Ra!
Let your lighting split the sky
Nis!
Son of Wotan swing your hammer
WOOARGH!
Bring it on!

Taranis Jupiter Donar Odin Wotan…
TA! RA! NIS!
WOOARGH!

Holy light shines in my eyes
Thunder rolls all around
Lightning crashes from the sky
Harken to the pagan sounds

Io Taranis I invoke thee
Wheel of thunder shake the land
Jupiter majestic eagle
Bring it on!

Taranis Jupiter Donar Odin Wotan…

Io Taranis bring on the thunder
Let your lightning split the sky
Mighty Odin I invoke thee
Bring it on!

Taranis Jupiter Donar Odin Wotan…

Overall Meaning

The song "Taranis Jupiter" by Omnia is a celebratory hymn dedicated to several ancient gods, including Taranis, Jupiter, Donar, Odin, and Wotan. The lyrics describe the singer's invocation of these deities and their powers, which are symbolized by lightning, thunder, and the sound of pagan music. The use of the exclamation "Ta!" at the beginning of the song and the repeated phrase "Bring it on!" throughout the lyrics create a sense of excitement and anticipation for the arrival of these powerful forces.

The singer's invocation of Odin and Wotan, who are both associated with Norse mythology, suggests that the song is also about the reclamation of traditional European pagan beliefs and practices. The use of the word "ancient" to describe the runes and gods further emphasizes the song's connection to historical and cultural traditions that have been suppressed or forgotten over time. Overall, the lyrics of "Taranis Jupiter" encourage listeners to embrace the power and magic of the natural world and the gods who embody it.

Dude, they're Pagan. They can invoke the divine masculine by any name, much like Pagans invoke the Goddess by any name: "Isis, Astarte, Dianna, Hecate, Demeter, Kali," is a popular chant. Also, when they wrote this, they were stuck in a thunderstorm on top of a hill. The song reflects their awe and wonder at the mighty storm. Not silly at all if you ask me :P

@oharov From what I've found, yes. Taranis and Thor both descend from the same Indo-European god. Even the name both means Thunderer. However they have been separated by culture (Taranis being Celtic, obviously). I'm also of the belief the same god is also Zeus and Jupiter. (And Romans thought the same thing, because they merged Taranis with Jupiter in Roman Gaul)

@venommire101

hail to you friend for though by blood i would be of the same nation as a woman i find attractive and actually brave for going against the clergy but i to am Celtic/pagan

@venommire101

p.s. bravery is what attracts me to Jeanne d'Arc

@celtictuathism4585

Taranis is more supreme than Thor.
