Ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was Dir fehlt,
Ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was Dir fehlt,
Ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was Dir fehlt.
Ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was, ich weiß, was Dir fehlt.
The song "Ich weiß was dir fehlt" by Peter Alexander narrates a man's search for his one true love. The chorus reveals that the singer knows what the girl desires, while the verse narrates his pursuit of her, which he believes will end in a kiss. The title of the song suggests that the singer is aware of what the girl is looking for and that he, unlike other men, will not deceive or mislead her.
The repeated use of "Poco-Poco-Pocola" throughout the song, which is a nonsense word, is a nod to the German Schlager style of music, which strives to be catchy and accessible to all audiences. The song's upbeat rhythm and wistful lyrics generate a sense of hope and longing. The singer's self-confidence and determination are evident in his pursuit, as he expresses his love for the girl and his willingness to commit himself to her.
Interestingly, Peter Alexander, the singer of this song, was one of the most popular entertainers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in the 1950s through the 1980s, having recorded over 1600 songs and starred in more than 50 films. "Ich weiß was dir fehlt" was one of his most popular and enduring hits, having been covered by several other artists over the years. In addition, the song played a role in the development of German Schlager music, which was popularized in the post-war period and remains a popular genre today.
